The splash guard, also known as a mounting gasket, is used for garbage disposals. The guard creates a tight seal between the sink and the garbage disposal ring. This part is black in color and made of rubber. It covers the top of the sink drain and it opens in the center to allow water and food particles into garbage disposal. It does this while ensuring liquids and food do not splash back into the sink. This should be a solution to your issue of garbage coming back out of the sink. Refer to the instructional diagram provided by the manufacturer for installation instructions.

Replaced splash gaurd
No store carried this model of my garbage disposal splash gaurd. When I got it open the package and put it in the sink and pushed it down towards the disposal and that was it. So simple.

The Splash Guard had begun to disintgrate. One from Lowes didn't fit correctly. The Stopper got thrown away by accident during the holidays.

I need to know if this part will fit the GE disposal referenced. The space in the sink measures about 3" across. Most of the replacement stoppers are about 3 1/2 or so and don't fit the opening. Please advise. Thanks!

What drain splash guard replacement will fit the the above disposal? The one I ordered from Amazon doesn't let the food flow into the disposal without physically pushing it in.
