Dryer started out continuing to tumble after door was opened. Now, we have to put pressure on the door at the bottom left of the door before we can start drying by pressing the start button. Does this sound like the door switch?
For model number GTD33EASK0WW
Hi Gina,
Thank you for your question. If you have to put pressure on the door at the bottom for the dryer to work, check and see if the door is aligned correctly. If it is not, then you may need to check the door strike and latch and you should check the hinge as well. If these parts check out fine, then the issue may be the door switch. You should also check the timer and the cycling thermostat as well. You will need to test the electronic parts with a multi-meter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may use as a general reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. For more information on how to test these parts, click on the Appliance Repair link on our website and on the next page that comes up click on the dryer icon. When the next page comes up, you will be provided with a symptoms list. Choose the "Will not shut off" symptom and the information will come up for you. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.
Hello Charlotte, Thank you for the question. If the dryer is not powering on (no lights ect) we suggest checking the Thermistor on the Blower Housing. With a Multimeter, The thermistor should read approximately 11.9K Ohms of resistance at 70 degrees Fahrenheit. We hope this helps!

Dryer would not start
I popped the door switch out with a small screwdriver, disconnected the electrical connection and re-connected the new switch and popped the new switch in place with a little adjustment.

WOULD NOT START/ stopped in the middle of cycle
Ordered parts and installed with YOUTUBE video. Model A little different than showed online, There was a Metal protector over the Door switch that need to be taken off before switch could be located. After detachment of dryer door, easily pushed the seal to one side to dislocate the metal protector. Would of took 30 minutes to complete if had not been for the Metal protector they added to cover the switch.

Looks like a new dryer is on the way
It was not an expensive part. I gave it a try; it could have been the problem. But it was the motherboard.

Easy Repair!
I was hesitant about trying to fix the dryer myself, but considering the cost savings, figured it was worth a try. This was the easiest part to replace myself! It took barely 10 min and only because the old piece was jammed in there and I had to muscle it out. The new piece popped in easily with no problems and now the dryer works perfectly!! Thank you!!
