This ice level arm, also known as an ice shutoff arm, is designed to detect the level of ice within the ice bin of your ice maker or refrigerator and turn it off when enough ice has been made. When the ice maker is empty, the arm will be down. When the ice maker is full, the arm will be raised, and over time, wear and tear to the level arm can cause the ice maker to stop making ice completely. To replace this arm, unplug your appliance and remove the ice making assembly, then pull the levelling arm out of the assembly and place the new one. Consisting of a long, angled metal arm and a plastic flap, this level arm is a genuine OEM part that is compatible with a wide-range of refrigerators and icemakers and measures at approximately 9-inches by 4.5-inches.

Re part #31 (ice shut off arm). The original part, which I have, has popped out of place. When I try to place it back, it continues to pop out, even though both ends are being inserted into the correct openings. I'm wondering if there is another part needed, like a that holds it in place? Thank you.
For model number KSCS25FKSS
Hello Joan, Thank you for the question. The arm should just fit in place with no other parts required. The arm may have become bent or warped not allowing it to stay in place. Hope this helps!

Ice maker continues to make ice after the arm shut is in the (UP) off position. Also continues to make ice after bin is full and overflowing with ice.
For model number ED5VHGXM011
Hello Bruce, thank you for your question. This sounds very much like an issue with the Shut Off Arm PS12712096. This gives the icemaker a signal to stop making ice once the bin has a reached a certain limit. We are pleased to have been able to help.

I was just missing two parts to the icemaker
I slid in the arm and slid in the ice bucket with augar.
took out old ice maker (3) screws unpluged power plugged new one in replaced screws , installed new icemaker shut off arm and done Ice bin auger disassembled bin to get at auger drum replaced broken auger reassembled bin and done 30 min tops hardest part was figuring out how to get bin apart
Technician at ASK suggested replacing ice maker. Ordered new ice maker(prompt delevery)then noticed it came without wire arm and white platic "flag". Ordered arm and "flag", replaced all old with new and seems to be doing well. Perhaps all I needed was the plastic "flag" on the limit arm wire. Will never know. The new icemaker wiring had short wires and a connector. Old ice maker had no connector so the short wires were removed and the old wires plugged into the ice maker. Mirror was required in order to see the side wall mounting screws. Very narrow work area, tiny freezer side.

Ice maker quit making ice
Replacing the parts was easy. I am 62 years old and have been repairing all my own appliances for yerars. I have found more problems in recieving the corect parts in a timley mater more difficult than fixing the problem. I am impressed with the promedness of your delivery, and in rtecieving the corect parts. Thank you much!!!!!!!!!!! Bill
I just followed the instructions that came with the unit, it was very easy. The old ice maker was taken out some time ago, so all I had to do was install the new one. It was three screws and one electrical plug. I removed the ice maker over a year ago and did not replace it at the time. I purchaced new handles also and they were easy to replace. I then decided to try the ice maker, I got tired of buying ice at the store. The order came in just two days right to my front door. It was a very easy fix and now I have a refrigerator full of ice. Thanks for the great service.
After installation, ice maker wouldn't function at all
I took the ice maker out to check things when it wasn't working and I noticed what wasn't visible with the maker installed. The input hose was filled with ice. An ice pick didn't really work so I filled an empty Windex bottle with hot water and sprayed the ice until it was gone. I installed the ice maker again and it's working well.
no shut-off for ice production; shut-off arm broken/missing
Inserted the prongs of the replacement shut-off arm in the holes provided in the bracket.

Worked well, but very expensive
The part installed as advertised and is working properly. I am not happy with the high price, but I'm hoping the part will last

Simple fix
It was easy to identify and order the correct part. The package arrived quickly and installation was simple. While the video showed a more complex installation process, I simply used a cosmetics mirror to see the area the arm needed to be inserted into. All is working well.

Easy repair
Repair was easy, but they should make it clear that the replacement Whirlpool ice maker no linger comes with this arm. Very annoying to get new ice maker installed and have to place another order fir this part.

So far so good!
After watching the video on how to replace the arm-shut I realized I would have to make some adjustments to my replacement plan as my refrigerator is built-in and I can barely get to the ice maker in the freezer to fix it. But I managed to remove the plastic piece from the metal arm (which is the same peice that kept coming off my Kitchenaid) and reattach it to the wire in the ice maker which I could not really see. It seems to be working fine. The Kitchenaid part is very poorly designed, kept coming off just about every time you closed the ice drawer. I think this will work fine.

Replacement ice maker
I earlier purchased a replacement ice maker for my Kitchen Aid refrigerator. Like so many do it yourself people I took the old unit out and threw it away. When you supplied me with the replacement a few days later, I found out that ishould have kept the shut off arm. So I then had to purchase it separately. That was very inconvenient.
