EZ Repair
Problem: LG Electronics LDF 554# door switch operated intermittently and sometimes failed to start the washing cycle, giving a 4,3,2,1 countdown display. Door switch (located exterior, top front of the assembly) has two micro switches which tested fine, however a mechanical plastic part with heavy spring would not ‘reset’ when door was closed and not close properly, causing one of the micro switches to remain open.
Order/Shipping: On-line order was quickly filled and shipped same day and shipping I selected was on time, with no problems. Part received was the part I needed for repair.
Replacement Part: There was no on-line photo to compare old to new ordered part and was required to rely on diagram and description. A photo would have helped.
Part Replacement: Repair was quick and easy, requiring small Phillips screw driver, multimeter, flashlight/light source, (gloves and safety glasses optional). Steps:
1. Turn off power to dishwasher at breaker box.
2. Remove any screws securing DW to cabinet and slide out DW (about 12-18 inches) to expose switch (located on the very top exterior front).
3. Remove thin plastic cover sheet held in place by one Phillips screw.
4. Test for ac power or if unsure about turning off DW power.
5. Unplug two wiring assemblies (left and right side of old part).
6. Remove two small Phillips screws holding part to DW. (Tip- put a large towel/drop cloth down below screw location to catch screws should they fall.)
7. Manipulate the old part out (jiggle, twist, slide backwards, etc.)
8. Install new part and follow above instructions in reverse order.
9. Test DW.
Hope these instructions are helpful. Best of luck on your project!

How do you test this part agm76149901 or p12588939 and will this part stop your dishwasher from powering on?
For model number Ldf5545st
Hello and thank you for writing.
This is the latch assembly and safety switch, yes if the dishwasher is not powering on this part could be responsible for it. You would need to test this part with a multimeter for continuity. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.
