At the advice of my repair man, I replaced the gearcase in hopes of fixing an extremely loud screeching noise. The noise happens at the end of every spin cycle, just after the splutch engages/disengages five or six times. Holding in the Start/Pause button does not stop the noise, only pulling the power cord. When the power is cut, the noise stops immediately. Plug the cord back in and the cycle finishes. No issues otherwise. The tub spins, water drains, and clothes come clean. It's just that wake-the-dead screeching. Could it be the motor drive or an electrical component that's bad?
