The right track on the upper basket broke. Do you have a video on how to remove the basket from the track and also how to replace the track to see if i can do the repairs myself or not?
For model number MDB8969SDM3
Hello Doug and thanks for writing.
We do not have a video but here are step by step instructions.
Use a 1/4" nut driver to remove the bottom front (kick) plate from the appliance. There are two screws, one at each end. There should also be two screws fastening the dishwasher to the countertop. You'll need to open the dishwasher door to see these and remove them. At the bottom of the dishwasher again, you might need to screw the front (2) leveling feet in to lower the dishwasher and provide clearance. Once done, just (gently, slowly) pull the appliance out of the cabinet. Check to make sure your power wiring, drain hose, and water supply hose are all long enough to do this. If necessary, disconnect any of these that are too short. if your power wiring is short, as mine was, you'll need to disconnect the circuit breaker, then remove the junction box at the lower front right side of the dishwasher, then disconnect the power and ground wires.
Once out of the cabinet, use a 5/16" nut driver to remove the four screws holding each rack slide in place and remove the track. The rubber mounts will come out with the track (new tracks include new rubber mounts). Clean any residue from the track mounting area inside the tub before installing the new track. This whole replacement process should take a total of 3-4 minutes per side.
To finish up, just reverse the process. When sliding the dishwasher back into place, make sure the fiberglass insulation stays in place completely around the outside of the tub. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.

Do you have to take the entire dw out of the cabinet to replace the ball-bearings part on the slider? Can't you leave one side of the rail in place as is, and slide the new part onto it?
For model number PS12584377
Hello Joan, Thank you for the question. Unfortunately the appliance will need to be pulled out in order to access the mounting screws. Hope this helps!

The white ball bearing part fell off of the top right rack on the dishwasher. What part do I need to repair this?
For model number Kuds03ftpa2
Hello Mimma, thank you for your question. There are the ball bearing in the track but they are not sold separately. You would need to purchase the Dishwasher Dish Rack Slide Track - Right Side PS12584377. We hope this information will help you.
Can’t get the right side upper rack to push in and has fallen a couple of inches.
For model number KDTM354DSS
Hi Kathleen, thank you for your question. It sounds like you will either need to check your track or the upper rack adjuster on your appliance to see which part is broken and needs replacing. It is likely that it is your rack adjuster, however an inspection of the parts should show you which one it is. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
I need to replace the upper rack slides, as ball bearings have come out. Can i just remove the upper rack to replace the slides, or do you have to remove the entire dishwasher from under the counter to do this? Not sure if you have to have access to bolts that are outside the unit.
For model number KDFE104DSS0
Hi Jesse,
Thank you for your question. Yes, you will need to remove the dishwasher out from the cabinet. You will need to make sure any screws securing the dishwasher are removed at the top front of the dishwasher under the counter and above the top of the dishwasher. Then pull the dishwasher out exposing roughly 18 inches of each side of the dishwasher then use a socket to remove the screws holding the tracks in place, 4 in total on each side. Then install new tracks and slide dishwasher back into place and secure. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day.

Broken parts on rack
Easy...easy....I first watched YouTube videos on how to fix our problem. We replaced both tracks and also the rack adjuster on both sides of the rack. The entire repair took about an hour and most of that time was spent finding the tools at our house!! I ordered the parts on a Sunday evening and they were at our house on Tuesday!!! Will use this sight again if repairs are needed.
The repair was easy. You will need to make sure any screws securing the dishwasher are removed at the top front of the dishwasher under the counter and above the top of the dishwasher. Then pull the dishwasher out exposing roughly 18" of each side of the dishwasher then use a socket to remove the screws holding the tracks in place, 4 in total on each side. Then install new tracks and slide dishwasher back into place and secure.
I replaced both upper rack tracks because the spot welds on one of the factory tracks failed after 18 months. The welds just rusted away and let go. The other track appeared to be close to failure so I replaced both of them. This repair is actually quite easy, but in order to change the tracks, you must pull the appliance out at least a little more than halfway in order to reach the screws that hold the tracks in place. There are four such screws on each side -- they are fastened through the exterior face of the tub. Here is the process: Use a 1/4" nut driver to remove the bottom front (kick) plate from the appliance. Because the tile on my kitchen floor does not continue under the dishwasher (tile was installed after the cabinets), it was absolutely necessary to turn in the leveling feet to get the appliance out. Since this also makes it very difficult to get a wrench around the plastic feet, I used a very small socket (3/16"?) on the top of the leveling feet stems. This makes it really easy to turn the feet. I the appliance designers had engineered things better by fastening the tracks from inside the tub, this would be a 5-minute job. But it's still not bad at all.

The right top side rack can apart. Wasn't able to reassemble.
I turned off the power to dishwasher first. Removed bottom plate to get to leveling legs. Lowered the legs as to be able to pull and skid dishwasher out from under counter. Once dishwasher is removed from under locate the 4 screws on right side that hold racks remove them. I would recommend replacing both skids on both side while you have the dishwasher pulled out. Very easy to replace new rack slid once old rack removed. The rack come assembled with skid and plastic holders. This repair is a 10 minute repair per side. Thanks Bob Seese
The track that allows top rack of dishwasher broke on both sides
Removed screws holding dishwasher in place. This dishwasher has one one the left and right side after you open the door hidden behind a plastic hole cover that you can pry out of place with a putty knife or some other thin tool. After this pull the dishwasher out about halfway and there are 4 screws on each side of the dishwasher (on the outside) that hold the top track assemble. Just unscrew these with the appropriate sized socket, remove the old track and screw in the new track. Super easy. Anybody can do this.
Had to remove 2 screws fastening dishwasher to counter. Also removed bottom faceplate to expose the legs and to be able to lower them. Other sites recommended disconnecting the drain and water line but I did not have to do that, I had enough slack in the lines. I got the dishwasher about halfway out of the cabinet and then was able to remove the 4 screws holding the right track. Put the new track in and was good to go. Problem was that the left track broke and fell off a few days later. Still was an easy fix and thanks to PartSelect it was not very expensive.

Spot welds on track rusted and broke.
Pulled out dishwasher, removed 4 bolts holding the track to the dishwasher, replaced track and installed the 4 bolts. Pushed back the dishwasher and works like new. The new tracks are riveted instead of spot weld and will last longer.

Dish rack slide arms losing ball bearings
Unscrewed mounting screws, pulled dishwasher out halfway, replaced arms, 4 screws each side .....very simple 30 min tops. Parts perfect and quick delivery!
Not a difficult repair, but made more difficult than it should have been by KitchenAid's decision to attach the track from the outside, rather than the inside. Remove the top and bottom racks (top rack just lifts off its tracks). After turning off power, remove the trim panel below the door, then open the door and undo the screws holding the tabs at the top where the dw is attached to the underside of the countertop. Lower the adjustment legs at the bottom front with an adjustable or sized end wrench. Assuming enough slack in the supply and drain hoses and power supply line, just pull the dishwasher about halfway out which will give access to the bolts holding the track mounts. You'll have to pull back the insulation to access the bolts. Then with a nut driver or socket wrench remove the bolts, put the new track in place and bolt in. Actual replacement takes less than five minutes. All the prep work to get to the mounting bolts is most of the work. If you have to disconnect the hoses or power it's a bit more, but I didn't have to do that. I made the mistake of only ordering the one track that failed (outraged that I have to replace this after only 5 years or so and too cheap to buy both), but in retrospect, I can see that I should have bought both. The opposite side is not in great shape and will need to be replaced at some point. Not a difficult repair-well within most people's skill level. But really KitchenAid - either design the track to last longer or make it easy to replace without pulling the dw out!

Quick repair
Our DW is in a corner, so only had to pull the unit out far enough to expose the bolts on the outside of the cabinet. Four bolts/screws on each side, very easy and quick.
Had more of a problem getting the insulation back in place when sliding the unit back into position.
Would be so much easier if the bolts came out from inside the cabinet.
Works great…

Quick Delivery, Helpful Customer Service
I was a little bummed that both of my dish rack slides began falling apart after just five years. They both began leaking ball bearings, then failed. I hired a plumber to install the first one, and after watching the process, did the second one myself. The directions on the website from PartsSelect were EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
I think the next part that will fail on my dishwasher will be the lower rack wheel units. I hope the replacement parts last longer than the originals!
