Frost buildup at base of ice maker
For model number RF23HCEDBWW/AA

If the flap on the ice dispenser is not closing properly, it allows warm air to enter the freezer compartment and causes frost build up on the ice maker. To check the flap, open the left side door, and look at the black flap inside the ice chute cap gasket PS4151634. If the flap is in the correct position, it is flush against the housing. We recently purchased a Samsung Refrigerator Model RF23M8070SR from a previous owner. The icemaker worked for a short time and then began freezing over and not allowing ice cubes to be ejected. What part of the unit needs to be repaired/replaced?

Hello Stella, Thank you for the question. This is normally an indication the Heater in the Ice Maker Mold is defective and will need to be replaced. Since the heater is no longer sold on its own, the Ice Maker will need to be replaced. We hope this helps!

On all the you tube videos it said to put in defrost mode. After looking at the owners manual it doesn't seem to have a defrost mode. What are my options?

This model does not have a separate Defrost Thermostat or Timer, it is controlled by the Control Board, PartSelect Number PS9604083 so it can not be put into manual defrost.
