It is a plastic bracket, measuring approximately 4 inches in length, with a pre-drilled hole in the center for attaching the mower blade securely. The blade holder is responsible for holding the mower blade in place during operation for optimal cutting performance, and to prevent the blade from detaching. Over time, the bracket may crack, wear down or become dislodged, causing the blade to become unstable. Do not operate your lawn mower if the blade holder is no longer secure as this can result in serious injury. Remove the old blade holder by unscrewing the fastener that holds it to the mower deck.
