Element with Limiter 6 Inch - 1200W Specifications
This is a radiant surface element with limiter, and it works in conjunction with your range. The function of this part is to give heat to the surface directly above it, on cooking area stove top. This model is sold individually and is 1200 watts. The main reason for needing to replace this part is if your element will not heat. Before ordering, make sure to test your stove top radiant element for continuity to make sure it is the problem. To make this installation you will need a Phillips screwdriver, and a 14-inch nut driver.

Heating element 15 heats up but cannot control the heat.
For model number MER6751AAS
Hi Hilton, Thank you for the question. I suggest replacing the Infinite Switch that controls the element you are having the issue with. The control switch turns the surface element on and off and determines the temperature of the element.Hope this helps!

The front small heating element is not heating and I am looking to purchase one, what does it mean when it says there is an element limiter?
For model number MER5755QAW
Hello Delores,
Thanks for your question. The element limiter is used for cutting off the temperature to the element at certain degrees - it involves the wiring of the element to ensure proper currents. We would also advise replacing the switch associated with the element, part number PS11744486, as that is more likely to be the cause of the element not heating.
I hope this helps.
I got a cook top heating elements from you guys when i hooked them up they will not heat up different size connectors on one of the wires

What is the ohm reading for the limiter on the 6 in element at room temperature 78 degrees
For model number RF378PXGB
Hi Kenny,
Thank you for your question. The information I have is that your burner has a range of 0 ohms to 120 ohms. For your limiter, when testing, if your needle or meter does not change then the part is not working and would need to be replaced. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

My right side front element gets very hot and can not be regulated. It goes goes full blast and stays there.
For model number MER6769BAW
Hello Paul, Thank you for the question. The most common issue would be a defective switch that controls the element. Part Number: PS11744486. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

I recently asked a question about a Maytag mer6769baw. I have a right front element that can not be regulated. The response was to change the infinite switch 6" part number ps11744486 but my element is the larger one. Is there another number for a switch that regulates the larger element? Thanks paul.

Hello Paul, Thank you for contacting us. I have researched the model you have provided and have found the part you are looking for is Part Number: PS11744487. Thank you for your inquiry, good luck with this repair!
The dual element on my Whirlpool electric stove top stays on high heat all the time. I took continuity on the element and it checks out good. I want to know if would be because of the switch or the limiter which is on the element. I cannot find the limiter by itself in your parts list. How does the switch work as far as controlling the amount of heat to each of the two elements? with the element not controlling and being on high all the time would it be the switch or the limiter on the element? If it is the limiter on the element can those be ordered separate from the element and if so what is the limiter part number? If not what is the element assembly part number? If it is the switch what is the correct part number for the dual element switch part number?
thanks!
For model number GJC3034LB0
Hello Jerome, Thank you for the question. If the element tested good then the element and the limiter should be fine. Also if the element is still turning on they should be good. This is a more common issue with the switch that controls the element you are having the issue with. Part Number: PS11747252. Thank you for your inquiry, good luck with this repair!
Hello. Is there any way to check with an ohm meter if the element is good before i order. Thanks
For model number JES885OBCS
Hi Nick, Thank you for your question. The information I have is that your burner has a range of 0 ohms to 120 ohms. For your limiter, when testing, if your needle or meter does not change then the part is not working and would need to be replaced. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Right rear burner went bad
Turned the breaker off, I removed 2 screws securing the range top to the range, opened the top and secured it in the up position, Removed the 2 screws securing the element ,one at a time I swapped the quick connectors from the old element to the new and repeated the process in reverse. I save over $100.00 in labor, plus most companies get you for a trip charge. It was easy!!

Hot Burner Light always on
Thermal switch is integral to element and can not be changed, must replace entire element.
Turn off power. Removed front two screws above oven door jamb and lifted the top. Removed the bracket that holds the element against the glass top and removed the element. Moved brackets from old element to new one, aligning to same numerical position and then moved wiring to new element. Slide new element under bracket and reinstalled single screw. Replaced top and screwed down. Turn on power and test .

glass cooktop element stopped working
3 months after my 5 year warranty ran out, one of the elements on my wife's maytag cooktop "popped". I was curious to see if I could fix it myself and ran across partselect.com via google. Their step by step instructions for determining the source of the problem (i.e. either the element or the control was bad) led me to realize that the element was bad. I ordered a new one -- which arrived in 3 days! It was very easy to replace the element, since I had already taken the glass cooktop off of the range during the testing phase. Thanks partselect.com!

right rear burner was inop for last 4 years
1. tripped circuit breaker for stovetop 2. pulled the stove top out of its cabinet. 3. turned in over carefully due to the glass cooking surface. 4. used 1/4 inch nutdriver on cordless drill to remove all the screws holding the lower cover in place. lifted cover off without removing completely as power wires still attached. 5. did continuity test on burner and found it open circuit while all the other 3 burners had continuity. 6. removed defective burner by removing two more screws and saw element was fried on the cooking side. 7. wrote down all part numbers and put it all back together. 8. changed the burner out when new one arrived by repeating steps 1 thru 6. Pay attention to the correct wiring setup. Do one wire at a time to make sure you don't mess up. MAKE SURE THE CIRCUIT BREAKER IS TRIPPED BEFORE YOU KILL YOUR SELF.
Have a tall one to celebrate the savings of two repair man call out fee's of minimum $60 each time and paying list price for the element. You probably just saved yourself $150. Tom in Steinhatchee

Faulty Element Thermostat
1)Turn off breaker to range 1.1)Disconnect the downdraft vent blower 2)Remove Range from Counter area (delicate procedure) Caution do not stress (Lift with or pull on) the cook-top 3)Remove Ceramic cook-top from base (hidden fasteners-remove the vert trim at front of range - it hides two fasteners) 4)Remove old elements 5)Rebuild the supplied elements (multiple options, copy the old element layout before disassembling- tricky) 6)Swap-out replacement elements (replacement elements were assembled slightly differently in the new style elements so wiring was slightly different) 7)Re-assemble Ceramic cook-top 8)Re-mount to base (needs assistant to support ceramic while reconnecting cable harness connector) 8) Re-set range into counter (Ceramic cook-top is very delicate, so extreme care is required to prevent damage)

Back heating element stopped working
I had some confusion about the correct series number associated with my stove and called Partselect. They confirmed the part I was looking at was correct in less than 5 minutes. I then completed the order online. Even with standard shipping my order was processed immediately and I received the heating element the next day.
Turned off the breaker. Removed the two screws in the front holding the range top down. Loosened the screws holding the element in place while balancing the range top with my shoulder. Removed the wires from the older element one at a time and attached them to the new element. Put the new element in place and screwed back in place. If I had a little help with the range top I think I could have completed it in 5 minutes but I was at home alone and the other stories of doing this repair made it seem easy enough and it was.

Burnt out burner
Had this range for 6 years. My daughter turned on the burner and it went "pop". She was very upset. I found the best price at PartSelect, and ordered the same day.
the first burner arrived broken in the box. We contacted PartSelect, and they immediately sent another and rushed shipping. It arrived in excellent condition.
To replace the unit: First, I turned off the circuit breaker for the range. Then I removed the two Philips screws that held the cooktop down. Next I removed the nut screws holding the burner to the cooktop.
Then I placed the new burner next to the old one, and one by one swapped the wires (this way I was sure I had the right wire on the right connector). One of the wire connectors broke when removing it from the old burner. PartSelect had provided 4 repacement connector pieces (oddly, all of which were too small for the burner element). So I located a replacement connector at a local hardware store. Stripped the end of the wire and used pliers to fasten the new connector.
After all connectors were secured to the new burner, I screwed the burner to the cooktop, then closed the cooktop and secured it with the two screws.
Turned on the circuit breaker, and it works like new! Saved over $100 by doing it myself!

Element Replacement
Replacing the element went well and works great. I had to change one connection as the new element was a little different than the old one. It had a large spade where the original had a small spade. Other than that it only took about a half hour to fix.

Element Shipped Newer Version
The element shipped wasn't the same one in the picture. The one in the picture was identical to the one I was replacing. The Black wire on one side wouldn't connect to the unit as the male end was wider. Whirlpool sent two wires but the male/female ends were either both wide or narrow. What I needed was a wide female end and small male end to make it work. Off to Lowes.

Fairly easy to swap out.
Part came in good condition and the stove burner is now working. Took a little extra time to identify the correct terminals to attach wires. They were in different positions. The instructions did explain this, but took reading it a few times to make sure I was correct. Moving the light over from one to the other and the mounting tabs were not covered, or very little. There was no new hole for that screw, and I wasn't sure it would easily screw into the new base. It did though, wish there was a note on this.
I also found too parts on the order page that I wasn't exactly sure which was correct. I think I have ordered the correct unit. No photo on the second unit so I couldn't tell by that. The part numbers noted in the details did not correspond with anything I had found on the old hardware.

Heating element install
I bought the heating element to replace a non-working one for a Maytag stove, ad said genuine but it was not, heating element shown in picture is not exactly the same as original, but it fit and worked, first I installed the same way the old one was wired up, heating element will lit up non-stop without limiter, after further review, I notice some marks at each of the studs that are hard to read on the white ceramic, I follow this marks, match it with the marks of the old set up, had to use one of the included adapters to extend wiring to one of the studs, then it works fine, element heat up, then the limiter kick-in and heat up again. Part shipped without installation instructions, hope they fix this in the future. Would highly recommend to take a picture before you start removing the old heating element or do a schematic of studs: 1a, 2a. 1b. and 2b, for a frustration free install;
