I just bought this dryer used and the dial won't move from where i set it on the cycle, i.E. More dry, less dry, etc. So it runs indefinitely even after the clothes are very dry. It gets hot and dries the clothes without a problem. I think one time out of about 8 it did seem to work on delicate cycle only. Would this most likely be a faulty timer, thermostat, or sensor? Thank you!
For model number GTD45GASJ0WS
Hi Kerry, Thank you for the question. This does sound like an issue with the timer switch,Part Number: PS11759041. The switch is not repairable so it will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

I have a 2 year old GE dryer and i have noticed the the heat cycle will not advance i can be drying clothes all day if i did not shut it off by opening up the door. Thanks kathy
For model number GTD45EASJ2WS
Hi Kathy, thank you for your question. Looking at your model information there are a few parts that you should take out and test to see which one is giving you the issue. The first parts to check in this case would be all of your thermostats and thermal fuses. You can test those parts with a multi meter and they should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. If those parts are fine, you should then go on to testing your heating element as well. You can also test that with a multi meter and it should be reading between 0 - 50 ohms. Something else you should also check would be your filter and ducts. Make sure there is absolutely no blockage that would restrict air flow in your appliance. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

unable to set timer, knob stripped
Timer was extremely difficult to turn, causing the knob to strip. Unplugged power to dryer. Pulled knob off, pulled dryer out to get at the back side, removed the small bolts that hold the back on, pulled back off and let it hang by the ground wire, looked at switch away and saw it was attached by a nut and a torque screw, and two hooks, removed screw and nut, looked at new switch,I put a little oil on the shaft to free it up,and aligned it the same as the old one, took the old one off by sliding it up to clear the hooks and let it hang by the wires, installed new switch with nut and torque screw and hooks. Then looked at the wires on the old switch and transferred each wire one at a time to the same terminal on the new switch. Screw the back on to the dryer, plug power in, move dryer back in place put knob on.
Two surprises: (a) after removing two screws, instrument console required a hard whack to slide it back so it would come off; and (b) the timer was held in place by a torx (T-15) screw. The photo I took of the wiring was essential for installing the new timer.
Knob broke so we were using vise grips to turn with. The stem broke off so we had to replace the timer.
Took pics of the wiring after taking off back top plate. Found PartSelect on line. Put in part and ordered, quick, easy and simple. They did everything as stated. Put all wires back on and closed up. Tickled pink with PartSelect and will definitely use them again.
DRYER TIMER KNOB WOULD NOT MOVE....CRACKED THE KNOW
REMOVED BACK COVER REMOVED THE SCREW HOLDING THE COMPONENT TO THE FRONT TOOK PHOTO OF HOW THE COLOR WIRES CONNECT REMOVED THE WIRE (TOOK THE LONGEST, HAD TO USE NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS TO BREAK THE TAB FEMALE TAB LOCKS. RE-WIRED THE NEW CONTROL PUT PLATE BACK ON DRY NOW RUNS AS INTENDED

GE Dryer Timer
The part was an original replacement part, exactly like the OE part on the dryer.
The replacement was simple; with only one challenge. The wire connectors have a
pin the latches into holes on the male prongs on the switch. It was a little difficult
to unlatch the pins to remove the wires from the original connector.
