My washing machine door wouldn't unlock, so i forced it open and i heard something snap off and hit the floor. Couldn't find the piece. Tried to restart washer, it made several clicking noises before tripping the lid lock fault code i felt under the lid and found an space where the lock would go, but don't know if the piece fell from there or elsewhere. Do i need the lid lock assembly to repair my washer?
For model number WTW7340XW2
Hi Brandon,
Thank you for your inquiry. If it is the piece off the lid, it sounds like you need the bumper, part number PS1490224. If the piece that you are referring to is off the body of the washer then you may need to replace the lid switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Washing machine lid will not lock so washing can be done
For model number WTW8000BW0
Hi William,
Thank you for your question. You may have to replace your lid lock assembly then. I would suggest testing it to see if it is working. You should be able to test it with a multi meter. Good luck with your repair.

When i press the power button nothing came on . It done this to me a couple of weeks ago then it started working but now nothing no lights or anything
For model number WTW7320YW0
Hello David, Thank you for your inquiry. I would advise checking both of your control boards, the control panel, and the power cord. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

We transported the washer to another home and after connecting of the hoses we plugged the washer in. Once we made our settings and shut the lid we heard the door lock try to close 3 times before the fault code on the washer read dl and all the Green lights were lit on the control knob. Is this the door lock assemble or a control panel issue? Thanks for your help.
For model number WTW8240YW0
Hi Jeff, Thank you for the question. This would be indicating an issue with a defective door lock assembly and it will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

I have a Maytag washer bravos xl model number mvwb850yw1.The problem i am having with it is it does not spin clothes all the way dry enough to be able to put in dryer. You have to ring them out first.Does not seem like it spins fast enough.I tried it on all wash setting and even on the rinse spin cycle just by itself and even went a step further and manually on control board even tried to put it on the Max spin cycle and with all of that being tried i still get same results with clothes not being dried properly.I have also encountered another problem where the machine will not go through a entire wash cycle. It starts off good and then goes from 1 hour on timer countdown quickly down to a few seconds then it shuts off.Thought it was only doing that cause i had no clothes in it i was just running it,but i did try to put clothes in it to wash and it did same thing. It does not matter what wash mode i have it in,it does the same thing everytime. Could your possibly shed some light on what the problems could be on my washer.I was looking on your site but not getting much help so i decided to write to you and see if your could help. Do you think it could possibly be control board acting up or a sensor somewhere on washer acting up causing my two problems. Thanks for your time.
For model number MVWB850YW1
Hello Justin, thank you for your question! We would recommend checking the follow parts for your symptom: basket hub kit (PartSelect Number PS11723155) as this can be a symptom of the drum spinning too slowly, which may be why your machine is not properly spin drying; the control board (PartSelect Number PS11754626) as it may not be setting the timing properly, and could be why your appliance is turning off too soon. One of these is likely the cause of the problems that you are having, and we hope this helps!

Lid part 11633-05 the "tongue" snapped off.... washer wont fill with water do i need the whole lid lock assembly?
For model number maytag MVWB725BWO
Hello Gregg, thank you for your question. If the tongue part snapped off the lid lock itself, you would have to replace the whole assembly, part number WPW10619844. Be aware the manufacturer has updated the part and it is now white and clips into the main top without mounting screws. I hope this helps!

Hello Dave, thank you for your question. The first part we would recommend testing/replacing is the lid lock PartSelect Number: PS11756782. If the lid doesn't lock, the unit will not start and the start light will flash. I hope this helps!

Lid Lock broke
Followed video from you tube. Man made it look very easy. Not! Hole that lock has to come through in back was very tricky. Also, DO NOT THROW OUT OLD PART UNTIL NEW ONE IS INSTALLED. The reason for that is there is a CLIP at the end of the old part that is needed to attach new part to wire section in control panel. NO WHERE is it mentioned at you got the clip from the old part. Luckily we saved it. Without that clip, you are screwed.

"dL" error code on display. Lid lock mechanism not working.
This was the second time I did this repair, so it looks like this mechanism lasts about 3 years. I found the video instructions on your website very helpful, with one major exception. On my Maytag Bravos XL machine, there are no clips on the front of the top plate to release by pushing in a putty knife. Rather, there are two vertical brackets on the back of the top plate that are loosened or removed, and then the top can be slid forward about an inch and lifted up.
Also, the tiny electrical connection plugs are secured by plastic clips on the sides of the receptacles. Those clips just need to be spread apart a little in order to unplug the connectors; i.e., don't pull too hard on those plugs, or look for a release lever on the plugs themselves.
Keep searches simple. Use keywords, e.g. "leaking", "pump", "broken" or "fit".

71 year old woman repaired this washing machine.
Easy fix and only $100 vs whatever it would have cost to have a repairman. I am a 71 year old woman and had no issues. 20 minutes and done!

Super easy repair
The repair went really well. The washer in the video is a little different than our Bravos XL but for the most part it was the same and where it was different it wasn't hard to figure it out.
I had to use the following video to remove the lid because, again, our washer is a little different.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiQAABAlm8E
but other than that it was pretty much as Steve said it would be.

Worked as expected
My washing machine would not work because the lid lock assembly failed. The lid lock assembly that I ordered arrived in just a few days. It was the correct part and fixed the issue that I was having. My washing machine is working great. The only issue I had was the installation video provided did not show the proper way to take the top off of my washing machine. It only took a few mins to figure out though. Still 5 stars. Parts select saved the day again. Thanks
