This thermal fuse is a manufacturer-approved replacement part for your oven. It is common for the oven to lose power after completing a self-cleaning cycle, and the thermal fuse is often at fault. Replacing the blown fuse is a fairly easy repair, and involved removing the top of the oven to swap out the fuse. Make sure to turn off the power source to the oven before beginning this repair.

Fixed the problem and was easy to install
The part arrived within 6 days in the midst of the covid-19 shutdown and was easy to install. The Kitchen Aid oven touch pad control panel was dead and there was no interior light. Wasn't sure if the issue was this fuse part, or the thermostat in the back of the oven, or the touch pad control panel but figured I'd start with the easiest, cheapest part of the three and work my way up. Fortunately this part fixed it. Turned off the power to the oven at the fuse box in our garage. Then unscrewed about 10 screws on the front of the oven and pulled the oven out about 3 or 4 inches. Slightly lifted and tilted the touch pad control panel out toward me and down from the top. Carefully removed the old fuse by gently pulling the electrical connectors off the ends and using needle nose pliers to assist in crimping the plastic tabs and then removing from the two holes it was inserted in. Inserted the new fuse, plugged in the electrical connectors, inserted in the two holes, reinserted the touch pad, pushed the oven back in and put the 10 screws back in. Turned the power back on in the garage fuse box and all good. Suggest you watch the video or a similar one on YouTube to see what I mean. Took a total of about 10-15 minutes to do and saved a bunch on an appliance repair person. Learned in my research that Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool does not have a good track record of longevity of this fuse in their ovens, possibly due to design, and its failure seems to be a common occurrence on some models like ours.

Easy repair, saved the day!
When our oven didn’t turn on during quarantine, I was convinced we were about to have a very expensive replacement and worried about how we would even get it. This part saved us! The instructions were easy to follow, part arrived quickly. Oven was back on and working in no time!

I researched the part. Ordered it. Watched a YouTube. Put it in and it was a perfect fix. The right part for the right job. If a 73 year old woman can do it anyone can!

Displayed mis information, turned off but never turned back on,
Suspect is sticking relay on the control board. Bought the control board and two fuses. Fact that no power to it meant probably the fuse was blown. Pulled Oven out half way to take off the top sheet metal where inside is where the control board and fuse are. They were easy to pull and replace. Oven works again.
The panel on my KitchenAid oven was completely blacked out making the oven unusable.
We got on YouTube and watched a couple of repair videos. We decided that the repair was something we would try to tackle ourselves.

Thermal fuse on top of oven was bad as well as fuse behind oven
Removed oven, removed top cover, replaced thermal fuse, removed back cover, replaced fuse in rear. Both fuses went bad due to self clean cycle. I feel like I almost burnt my house down and the fuses did their job. No more self cleaning for me

Thermal fuse blew while oven was in use and we had a power outage.
Thanks to PartSelect they suggested to try a new thermal fuse first. They also gave a brief description of how to install it. There advice was right on. Replaced the fuse in about 20 minutes from throwing the breaker to turning it back on.
Instructions: Turn off breaker. Remove oven door. Remove screws holding it to cabin
... Read moreet. Remove racks. Slide oven out about four inches. Remove four screws holding control panel. Remove thermal fuse. Replace thermal fuse and put it back together.
Thank you PartSelect. Thermal fuse cost me about $28.00 with shipping. This repair would have cost a couple of hundred if I had to call a repair technician.

After running oven in BROIL for lengthy period, entire oven shut off, thermal fuse blown
USE 2 PEOPLE FOR SAFETY! SWITCH OFF OVEN POWER BREAKER!! Remove screws attaching oven to wall opening, slide out entire oven just far enough to get to 2 screws on either side of controls, remove those screws (may need stubby screwdriver), lift control front, opens forward, have 2nd person hold control panel cover while removing centered
... Read more thermal fuse (plugs on both ends, may need needle-nose pliers to grip plug on fuse.) Remove old fuse, plug in new one. Close control panel, replace side screws, TEST POWER BEFORE pushing oven back into wall, replace wall-holding screws. Less than 30 minutes. EXTRA PERSON MAKES EASY!

I ordered the thermal fuse. Does the oven need to come out of the wall to replace it? If so does it come out partially or entirely?Thankyou.
For model number Wos92ecoas01
Hello Jeff, thank you for your question. The oven will only have to come out far enough to access the two screws that hold in the control panel. We do not have instructions for this particular part, but we do have a YouTube channel with repair videos that may be of assistance to you. Here is a link to a list of videos that may be similar: https://www.youtube.com/user/partselect/search?query=thermal+fuse. We hope this helps.

The larger burner knob wasn’t turning . The screw behind it fell out causing the metal disks to separate. My husband got them back together and proceeded to screw the screw back in . A large spark happened and now there is no power to both the left burners . We switched the top fuse but that doesn’t seem to be the issue. Also after taking it apart at the back the wires look good. Any suggestions?
For model number 36801
Hello Lisa, thank you for inquiring. It is likely the Infinite Burner Switch was damaged. It is what the Knob connects to, to turn the burner on. We will need the model number for your range to locate the correct replacement for it. Here is a link to some tips on our website for locating the model number for your range: https://www.partselect.ca/Find-Your-Range-Model-Number.aspx. We look forward to hearing back from you!

My broiler gets hot but then it shuts off. After numerous tries swapping between bake & broil it finally worked long enough to cook dinner. I even reset the main oven circuit breaker.
For model number WOS592EC0AS01
Hello Greg, thank you for your question. We would recommend testing the thermostat for continuity. If there is continuity in the fuse the fuse is NOT bad. If the fuse is ruled out, we would recommend testing the PartSelect Number: PS11744233 At room temperature it should read 1070 ohms. If the sensor is fine there might be an issue with the control board, you can try a reset by unplugging or shutting off the breaker to the appliance and then restoring power. If that does not help the control board may need to be replaced. I hope this helps, best of luck with your repair!

We had the power to the house go out while the oven was heated to 450 degrees. When the power came back on just over an hour later there was no power to the oven. Circuit breaker checked out ok. I believe something was fried because the cooling fan could not cool the oven properly. We have a whole house surge protector also.Which part do you think might have gotten damaged?
thanks.

For model number WOS92EC0As01
Hello Jeff, thank you for your question. I would recommend testing/replacing the fuse first, as that part will fail and then power will not go to the unit. If the fuse doesn't fix the issue, the problem would be with the user interface control board or the main mother board. I hope this helps.

Oven runs get warm/hot but not hot enough to cook with or clean the oven in cleaning mode.
For model number WOS92ECOAS00
Hello Stuart, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Oven Sensor, PartSelect Number PS11744233. Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. Hope this helps!
