Re-engineered Part - An Improvement
The older model of this part had separate flaps that covered up each individual sections of the basket. When in use, the flaps were to keep small items in place. I hardly used them. The new basket, instead of flaps, now has two sliding covers, each one sliding over the basket from either end. The upside is that there is more space in each section (because there are no more flaps getting in the way). The downside is that when not in use, the covers have to be stored somewhere outside the washer (and not forgotten about). Also, if you use want to use one of the covers, you have to cover up an entire half of the basket. This is not a big deal if you only use the basket for silverware.
As for ease of repair. There's no repair needed as the basket just drops into place.
As for durability, we'll see. The old basket in my washer had to be replaced because the bottom was wearing out, and pieces were breaking off (and ending up stuck in the sprayer arms). Perhaps the plastic can't handle the heat from the many 100s of washes and heat drying over a few years of service.

I need the silverware basket for this unit. It is listed as ps11755312. However, this basket is 20" long and it needs to be 19" for my unit. In the description on your web page you indicate that model # ktde334dss0 uses a 19" basket. However, when i select this model from your catalog, it shows that this model also uses the 20" basket. Do you have a 19" basket?

We bought kitchen aid dishwasher on 6/7/2016 the basket part number w10473836 is breaking up. Small sections of the bars on the bottom break off and let the knife and fork handles fall through. The basket needs to be replaced. Cagle's Ontario California, where we bought it, said they would order one for $60. I think the part is faulty and i would like you to please replace it. Is there a silverware basket that has fixed slots that fit this model? I am having trouble keeping the separators in place. It is very frustrating.
