Removed the 10 screws holding the inner panel to the outer panel of the door. Removed inner panel to access latch/switch, then removed 2 screws to remove latch/switch. When i try and shut the door it will not shut and latch

Thank you for your question. If the door will not shut and latch, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which ones are are causing the issue. You will need to check the door balance link kit, the door latch and switch assembly, the dispenser, the mounting brackets, the door springs, the rack track stop, the door strike, the hinges, and the gasket. You will need to check the door latch and switch assembly, the timer or electronic control board, the selector switch if present, the motor start relay, the thermal fuse and the drive motor. I believe the door latch is broke. Does it mean the power wouldn't turn on? Replacing the door latch would fix the problem? Thanks.

Thank you for your question. Yes, if your door latch is broken, then your appliance will believe that the door is open and no power will go to your control board to activate it. You can test the switches on the latch with a multi meter to be sure. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Our KitchenAid dishwasher sometimes won’t start when the door closes. Other times it starts on the fist try when closing the door.
When pushing the start/resume button, sometimes the light is going on and off and the dishwasher doesn’t start when closing the door.
When pushing the start/resume button sometimes the light stays on and the dishwasher will start when closing the door.
This issue happens frequently and requires several attempts of pushing the start/resume button and closing the door before it will start.

What are some symptoms of a failing door latch switch? Previously, it would not start and now it shut off "mid cycle". It did restart to drain the water.
