Drain hose was leaking.
Switched circuit breaker off. Removed kick panel. Removed the dishwasher from counter. Disconnected drain hose from the pee trap. Disconnected drain hose from pump. Installed new drain hose. Reinstalled dishwasher in counter. Connected hose at the pee trap. Turned power back on. test for leaks by running a cycle. Reinstalled kick panel.
The rubber elbow that connects the drain hose to the sump pump decomposed and it is part of the hose (glued together), so must change the entire hose. But, is easily done with the supplied instructions supplied by Partselect online when ordering the part. The part shipped quickly from stock and rec'd via USPS. It did not have some relief spaces where the hose mounted to the side of the cabinet through the mounting bracket, but still installed without issue and works fine without any further leaking at the joints.

Kitchen Aid Drain hose
Part was not exactly as pictured as the one shown had 3 indentations to fit in clips, but still worked. Part did come quickly and price better than on other sites

Just what was needed, repair straightforward.
With a helpful how-to video, this repair was relatively easy and should allow several more years of service from the dishwasher- definitely worth the effort.
