I was unable to determine the electronic problem
I bit the bullet and purchased both a new circuit board and new control panel. I decided to change out the circuit board first. After unscrewing the 6 screws on the cover, I went ahead and took a picture of the board, THEN pulled out the wiring. I carefully removed the circuitboard, to send it back for my refund, then snapped in the new one, into the new control panel,easily plugged in the wiring, and put the cover over it. Screwed the interior cover back in, and closed it up.
My wife had dishes readyto wash, chose the normal cycle and let it rip!
My 7 year old Elite is running like new.
Total cost.... $429 less the $60 refund on the old part.... $369.
Checked on another Kenmore Elite today, on Black Friday sales, about $950.
Part Select saved me over $500, thanks!

Does this control panel come with the touch pad included? And is the touchpad available by itself?
