Timer opened water valve and activated agitator at the same time.
Diagnostic: damaged timer
I unplugged and opened the control panel to remove the timer. Once removed, I installed the new timer. I placed the control panel back, plugged back, set the timer, and go! It's working like a brand new washer!

Timer would not advance
After looking at the new part and reading how to take off the original timer, it then took me about 15 min to put the new part on the machine. My sister-in-law told me her boyfriend had repaired his washer buy buying the part on line. Sears wanted over three hundred dollars. I got on line and fixed it myself, don't be afraid to try and save a few bucks by doing it yourself, you can always find a how to on line. And I didn't have to wait from 8:00 - 12:00 for the repair man!!!!!

Top load Kenmore washer starts to agitate before water fills. Is this most likely a timer problem?
For model number 110.29822800

Hello Roger and thanks for writing. Usually, when this happens, it is because of the load sense switch. The relay in the switch sticks and allows the washer agitate to before it fills. A simple check is to access the load sense switch and unplugging the wires to it. Then check the operation. We hope this helps. Please contact us at any time . If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a technician.

Washer is not allowing water in the tub. Screens are clean and I have good water pressure
For model number 110.29822800

Hello Anthony, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Water Valve. Set your multitester to the R X 1 ohms setting to test for continuity. Place each of the multitester's leads on a terminal. Your multitester should display a reading between 200 and 500 ohms. Closely examine your water inlet valve. The exact ohm resistance rating you should test for may be marked on the valve. We hope this helps!
