Timer would not advance from set time.
Consulted Parts Select site for timer. Unplugged dryer piwer. Removed 6 screws from top console back, then timer itself by removing 2 screws. Moved electrical connections from old to new timer. Reinstalled timer screws and then console back screws. Plugged it in and all was good!

Timer not advancing
Timer-Removed the screws from top back panel from behind the dryer. Removed the screws on timer. Replaced one wire connection at a time. Remounted timer and put panel back on.

Thermal fuse- also because it seams to fail a lot and I was already working on the dryer. Removed lower back panel. Found fuse. Unscrewed the one screw. Disconnected fuse and put new one in. Kept old one as a back up.

Total time between replacing the thermal fuse and the timer-1/2 hr.

A little pricey, but the dryer is only 3 yrs old and I was able to fix it! Hope it will last us for several years.

Dryer would not shut off
I called an appliance repair company to do a diagnosis and was told the timer would need to be replaced. Parts and labor was quoted at $290. The dryer isn't worth that much. Found a video on this site on how to replace a timer for my model of dryer. Ordered the part for $116 and replaced it myself. The video instructions were exact step by step.

Timer on my dryer would not rotate so dryer would not turn off
With the help of YouTube, I diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and with more help from YouTube, changed out the timer. My husband was impressed and I saved a few hundred dollars on a service call. :)

The Dryer had simply quit turning off: either by moiture sensor or by timer. The timer knob would no longer advance.
I looked up the likely causes on this website and came up with two most likely causes: bad fuse ($10) or a bad timer assembly ($85). Since I suspected the timer assembly might be more likely cause but the fuse was relatively cheap, I went ahead and purchased both of those so I'd likely be able to fix it. Got the parts in 2 days, First I installed the fuse assembly using the video from this site as a coach. Took me maybe 5 minutes to replace, quite easy actually. Put it back together and tested to see if it had fixed the problem. It had not. So I replaced the timer assembly. I used the youtube videos of that for some coaching preparation. Again it was easy as pie. Took me 5 minutes to remove the old one and replace with the new one. Put it all back together and tested it. SUCCESS! that fixed it! So.. for about $100 in parts, I fixed it. The service call alone would have cost $150 not including parts, so I saved at least $150 doing it myself! Your diagnostic help advise was absolutely vital to enabling me to diagnose and find the right replacement parts! THANK YOU!

Timer won't advance - just sits in one place and i can hear the "ticking" noise of the timer - just wont advance. Purchased from you and replaced thermal fuse but no difference. Dryer heats well, does not overheat - timer just won't advance. Is next option to purchase a new timer? Ideas? Thank you!
For model number WGD5000DW3

Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. If the timer is not advancing, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the thermal fuse, the belt, the igniter kit and the radiant flame sensor. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Neither my timed dryer or sensor dry is working. The heat is good but it just continues to run with no movement of the dial.
For model number WED5000DW
PartSelect logo
Hello Bill, thank you for your question. That sounds like an issue with a thermostat or the timer itself. We would recommend testing the thermostats and the dryer fuse and if those parts are not the issue the timer should be replaced. I hope this helps!
