The temperature sensor measures the temperature inside the oven. If your oven is too hot, not heating evenly, is not heating enough when baking, or simply will not start, you could have a faulty temperature sensor. A faulty temperature sensor can be a fire risk. If your sensor is not working properly, you should look to replace it straight away. A failed oven sensor is most often responsible for F3 or F4 error messages on electronically-controlled ovens. Make sure you disconnect the power to your range before you start your repair.

This part works with the following brands: KitchenAid, Whirlpool.

This part works with the following products: Wall Oven, Range, Microwave Oven Combo, Cooktop.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Oven is too hot.

When I turn on my top oven after about 5 minutes of preheating the door lock engages and i get the error code f3 e2. Do you know what can cause this? Thank you

Sean for model number RBD245PDQ15

Hi Sean, Thank you for the question. The error indicates an issue with the Temperature Sensor. You can try to disconnect power or unplug the appliance. Check the temperature sensor wire to see if it is loose. Measure the oven temperature sensor resistance using a volt/ohm meter. If the resistance isn’t 1080 ohms at room temperature (70 degrees F), replace the oven temperature sensor. If the oven temperature sensor resistance and wire harness connections are okay, replace the electronic oven control (EOC). Hope this helps!

After using clean cycle, the oven went blank and door locked with no power or light. Is this part the cause? How do i get it fixed. Thanks

Abraham for model number IBS350PXS00

Hello Abraham, thank you for contacting us. It is possible that you may need a new temp sensor after that. Possibly more common would be the high limit thermostat PS11747249. This trips when the oven gets too hot or senses a runaway temperature. The reason that may happen could be from a bad fan motor that is not spinning fast enough PS11703401 Hope this helps!
