Ice Container for my Whirlpool Refrig
I was disappointed in the purchase due to about 2 yrs ago I had to get the same part and at that time it came altogether for about $130.00. Then this time I ordered it and it came in pieces and the part I got was $78.00 total and it was the shell of the bottom of the ice maker. I told the appliance place where I took it that I wasn't going to spend anymore money so they took my old piece and transferred everything for me. I don't know if I'm going to buy anymore Whirlpool products at this time.

Broken plastic allowing ice to fall into the freezer.
At the bottom of the dispenser, mine had a motor coupler retained by a Phillips screw. The difficult part started when that screw would not budge. I had to drill it out. Be warned - when you remove the coupler do not allow the bent shaft that extends into the ice bin to slide out. If you do, the 5 crusher arms and a bunch of nylon spacers
... Read more will fall into a heap. If that happens, notice the three rotating arms are labeled a,b,c. Note that there are 2 stationary arms that use the stepped washers. Use the wear marks on the shaft as a guide to spacer placement. Crushing is accomplished by reversing rotation, so index the arms with that in mind.

I can not remove the ice container and ice bin. It seems as if the little push knob is jammed it will not return to the flush position. How can i remove the i bin / ice container.
For model number msd255oveb00
Hello Rick, thank you for your question. This is most likely due to ice and frost around the latch and spring that locks the bin into place. The latch will have to be disengaged to remove the bin. Try using a hair dryer on the push knob to see if that will help release it. If this doesn't work you may have to go one step further and follow these next steps.
1. Put a huge towel on the floor to catch the water you'll be using
2. Pour lots of WARM-HOT water into the ice bucket auger. Within that area is the gear that either grinds or moves the cubes to the exit.
3. What locks the bucket release and the auger is the frozen crushed ice that has solidified in it after so many uses.
4. Keep pouring the water until all the ice has melted or until the auger freely rotates.
5. This also releases the latch on the side because it's the frozen ice that solidifies around it.
6. Press the release and shake the bucket until it releases itself
7. You may need to use a screw driver to push the blue release button further in because it's a simple spring load with plastic.
8. Shake it right and left until the plastic clips release itself from the bottom clamps
9. Run the entire base in hot water to melt all the ice in all the different pockets within the bin.
10. Wipe dry all parts and reinstall.

The ice bucket will not lock into position. It wobbles and is not tight
For model number Ed5lhaxwqoo
Hello Marilyn, thank you for your question. Sometimes the bucket and the section the bucket sits in will get frosted or have bits of ice that keep it from releasing or sitting down right. We would recommend checking the latch to be sure its latching and releasing properly and that there is no ice buildup preventing the part from sitting down tightly. I hope this helps!

Ice maker make ice but the dispenser does not work, using scoop to get ice out of bin, would part number ps11748724 repair the motorized part that dispenses the ice? If yes is there a video for replacing the part? Thanks
For model number ED5LVAXVB00
Hello Michael, Thank you for the question. The motor for the ice container would be Part Number: PS11723176. Here is a link to a video that may help. Good luck with the repair!

The white ice container base will not release. The blue button is pushed in and I can see it is releasing from the door. I can lift up about a half inch but it seems like the auger is preventing it from releasing. I had a power outage for 5 days due to the hurricane so all the ice melted and is now working.

Hello John, thank you for reaching out. The ice bin might be frozen to the door. Start by leaving the door open for a while to see if the bin loosens and can be removed. If that does not work, the auger motor drive shaft could be rusted in the ice bin socket, preventing the bin from coming off. In this case, apply significant upward force while pressing the release button. This should allow the shaft to come out along with the ice bin. Then remove and replace the shaft, part number PS11739142, and reinstall the ice bin. We hope this helps!
Ice bucket does not sit on base firmly enough for locking lever to engage.Tried turning auger slightly to get it to seat and will not. Blue seating lock as far left as it will go, against the stop.
auger keeping it up. both bucket and base free of ice and dry.
what can I do?
For model number KSRG25FVWH01
Hi Robert, did you order a replacement bin? The first thing I would check if it is the compatible bin and if so check to make sure you did not receive a different bin by mistake. We do have a video for a different part that should give you a general idea for installation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofxEF-Gub9s . Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

My ice bin would not release when i pushed the blue button. I defrosted all the ice stored in the bin and through the chute but had to pry it with a screwdriver to get it off. Now it will not lock back into place. I tried pushing the blue button and moving the auger but it will not go back into place.

For the ice container, part #20 is a small spring. Where is it supposed to be placed on the ice container assembly?
For model number ED5FHAXVY00
Hi Harry, Thank you for the question. The spring attaches to the latch for the bin, Item #19 in the diagram. Hope this helps!
