It would not advance to the rinse cycle ,
Well, first off I got the wrong timer from another source, I threw it away and ordered the right one. Secondly I haven't done the repair yet , I am waiting for my daughter to bring me the part on Jan1, I am in the Caribbean and didn't want to pay the shipping for it , plus Customs Duty. The repair is not a real complex deal but , I am a retired electrician so It's not too technical to me., about 6 torx screws and 3 self tappers to take the timer out , plus pulling the plugs on it. The impeller is a bit more work but not too bad , just pay attention to the order of the parts. I am just changing it out because the parts select site said this is the problem 90% of the time and I would hate to go through ordering more parts from the USA again. I hope it all works when I get the parts....

Grinding noise from Dishwasher
Excellent site. When the dishwasher started making a loud grinding sound, i thought "oh great -- now I'll have to buy a new one". After searching the internet (I just entered the model number of my Maytag dishwasher), Partsselect.com came up in the search results. I read several postings from previous customers which described the same problem I was having... followed their step-by-step instructions and was able to disassemble the lower washer arm and find the culprit -- a broken wash impeller. Ordered the parts, they arrived within a couple of days, spent 15 mins putting everything back together and I'm now good to go! THANKS PARTS SELECT!!!!! I owe somebody a free lunch!

Loud whining noise immediately after draining
Removed all parts down to wash impeller following online videos and parts breakdowns (took a while to figure out how to do this). The only difficult part was separating the Discharge Pump housing from the Suction Plate. They are fitted together with friction, and a flat-blade screwdriver can push them apart. Replaced broken parts including Wash Impeller, Suction Plate, and Discharge Pump Housing. Purchased Filter Support because it was involved and appeared to have been damaged, but the new part looks identical to the old part. Purchased new o-ring & gasket to avoid digging them out of broken parts. Cleaned out the spray arms top & bottom and it now works like new!

dish washer was not cleaning properly
there was buildup in the arms - we could see white chunks blocking the holes. we cleaned them out. using the diagram printed from you site we compared the other parts to the picture as we took them off. we determinted a few were bent or distorted or worn and ordered replacements. items arrived very quickly -in 2 days. (which does feel long enough when you are hand washing dishes). we put things back together in correct order using your diagram again and it's been clean dishes ever since. we also changed dish soaps figuring the build up was from that!! thanks for your help and your speedy delivery!

Unit sounded like it was trying to start then would shut off.
I removed the lower spray arm, then the cover over the discharge housing. Then removed the discharge housing, and the wash impeller.
I reassembled in the reverse order of the disassembly, with a new discharge housing nut, housing gasket, and lower spray arm seals.

Dishwasher made a grinding sound - very loud. Did a poor job cleaning.
I took the lower pump assembly apart to find the problem. The biggest challenge was figuring out how to remove the cover. In the center, the assembly is held together with a round plastic nut about 1.5 inches in diameter - simply rotate it counter-clockwise to remove. I then removed the pump housing and found the impeller broken in two and the disk that was supposed to be attached to the top of the pump housing broken off. This was causing the noise and greatly reduced efficiency of the pump. I replaced the impeller and upper pump housing (bought the gasket too since it is hard to remove the old one) and put everything back together using the diagrams provided on the site. While many rate this repair as "easy" - it is only after you figure everything out! If you knew exactly what you were doing, the project could be done in 10 minutes. I had to study the diagram and it took me some time to disassemble, figure out what was wrong, read posts, order parts and reassemble. I also replaced the handle which had broken on one side which was simple. Part select is outstanding - I've used this site for my fridge, oven and now dishwasher and have avoided expensive service calls. If you are technically inclined and patient, you can repair your own appliances.

Impeller broke up after 9 years of very hot water
I followed the excellent parts diagram on the PartSelect.com site to remove one screw after another, until I arrived at the disintegrated impeller.

After replacing it, I reversed the procedure, again refering to the diagram frequently.

In the process, I discovered that one part, the pump housing filter, had shrunk over the years, preventing the pump cover to seat properly. Although I had a few service calls in the past (we had a service contract until a month ago), no one could find the reason why the cover did not tighten down. I was told the screw holes were stripped, and it would not be worth replacing the whole base.

Anyway, I used a Dremel grinder on the filter latches to increase the diameter of the filter, and it fits now.

The nine-year old dishwasher runs like a charm again.

Incidentally, the ordered parts arrived within 24 hours! How do they accomplish such fast delivery?

While changing the impeller on the dishwater i have a flat plate the appears-to have floated on top of the impeller but cannot find any reference to it and it does not appear on any of the diagrams. Any ideas?
