The compactor just stopped working, however on the same circuit i cut some wires that That caused the circuit beaker to trip. Would the operational switch be bad or the The directional switch ? Only a continuity test would determine which one?
    For model number 665.14722113
Hi Roger, thank you for your question. Yes, you would have to do a continuity test on those parts to see which one might be causing the issue for you. You may also have to look into replacing your wires as the manufacturer does not add parts that are not supposed to be there for the appliance to function correctly. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

The compactor went down to crush material and broke the large gear therefore did not move up. Is there a lower switch that switches the travel and if so where is it located?
    For model number GX900QPPS4
Hello David, Thank you for contacting us. I have researched the model you have provided and have found the part you are looking for is PartSelect Number PS11744742 for the Directional Switch. Here is a repair story from a previous customer. We hope this helps. "Pulled the Compactor from underneath cabinet, unplugged power. Removed the top plate off compactor to expose the crush piston. Removed the front control panel by removing two phillips screws, wiring and directional (limit) switch is now exposed. Removed the two screws securing switch, removed wiring one wire at a time and replaced on new switch in same position. Replaced switch in same manner as removed, and followed reverse of above to re-assemble. "

replacing parts that were beginning to rust from outdoor exposure.
I had no problem. My husband is an engineer, so the repairs went well. The only problem I did have was that one of the parts did not arrive. come to find out that it was on backorder and arrived a day or two after I called. The person I spoke with when I inquired was most helpful and expeditious. All in all, my experience was excellent.
