The nut that holds the lower spray down seems to be broken and the gasket under the spray unit is broken also. Need help with parts please.
For model number DU940PWKB1
Thank you for your question. The part number listed under your model number for the lower spray arm nut is PS11745480 and the part number for the lower spray arm seal is PS11741334. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
Took the two baskets out and removed the spinners which simply clip on. The bottom center spinner screws on/off using a tab in the center. Then removed four screws holding the filter cover in place. Then removed the one screw holding on the chopper cover and removed cover. Old chopper came out easily. Then rinsed and washed everything down to clean out all of the disgusting stuff that was clogging the unit. Put the new chopper in place, put chopper cover on and everything else in place and it now cleans like it was brand new!
After disassembling the entire motor assembly, I discovered the chopper assembly was broken. This could have been accessed from the top. in any event, I found the problem and fixed it with a new part. After re-assembling the unit there was a small leak coming form the edge of the motor assembly this was resolved by removing the gasket and smoothing out the contact surfaces that were damaged by the removal of the motor assembly.
At first, I suspected the door seal was at fault. However, after reading others' repair experiences, I found the dishwasher may leak if the wash arm bearings are worn. So, I took a look at those, and indeed they were quite worn.
After receiving the parts in the mail, I called my 7 and 9 year old kids over. They were excited to open the package, and weren't too disappointed when they found it was dishwasher parts. I told them it was up to them to fix the dishwasher. As I sat on a stool, I instructed them what to do. They did a great job and now it doesn't leak any more.
