Dryer wasn't heating.
Replaced high limit thermostat and thermal cutoff. Dryer works like a champ. Reviewed couple of YouTube videos that showed clearly how to
get to the effected parts, test them and replace them. I had an old front loading dryer once before that I repaired a couple of times but these parts were accessible by removing a panel on the rear of the unit. The procedure was more involved with this unit. After studying the videos and getting a feel for what was involved, the process, while involved, was fairly simple and putting the unit back together was also fairly easy. Replacement parts did the trick. Very happy.

Dryer stopped heating
We have a very early model of the He3. We had to follow directions for the He2 model to replace the heater element and thermostat. Access is easy through the front panel, but removing and replacing the element required some force and maneuvering in a small area.

We replaced both the element and the thermostat since we had the entire part disconnected and removed. So far working great!

How do i test this part to ensure it has failed
For model number YWED80HEBW0
PartSelect logo
Hello Gerald, thank you for your question. Testing a thermostat is easy! Set your multimeter to the R X 1 setting. Take each of your meter's probes and touch one to each terminal. You are testing for continuity, and you should receive a reading of either zero or infinity. At room temperature, testing the thermostat should produce a reading of zero. But if a thermostat is tested when it is heated to its limit, a reading of infinity should be produced. We strongly recommend that you test your thermostat at room temperature. If the test you conduct with your thermostat does not produce these results, then you should replace the component. I hope this helps!

I've checked this and I believe the other one is the heat cut off and both have perfect continuity. My dryer turns on sometimes but won't start the times it does turn on. Any idea what that might be? Thanks
For model number WED8000DW4
PartSelect logo
Hello Raul, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Door Switch to check the continuity. Make sure it is secure as well so when the door is closed the switch is getting activated and tells the controls the door is closed. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

On my dryer, 1 of the 2 wires that plug into my heating element keeps melting at the connection. What would cause this to happen? I checked the continuity of the element and it is good. I have replaced the thermostat and the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse blew after drying one load. Not sure what to check next and why the wire is melting at the connection.
For model number Wed9500tw2

Hi Chad, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the exhaust pipes and lint ducks to make sure they are not blocked. Lint and moisture can block them over time and cause over heating of the element. Hope this helps!
