I need to replace the silverware basket on my dishwasher. The current part number printed on the basket is 8531288, asm 8531233. Current dimensions are 4’’ wide x 9.25’’ high x 19.5’’ long. The dimensions that you have provided to another customer asking question about the dimensions seem to be different! Please comment.

I don’t like the covers on the silverware basket. Are they removeable?

I had my dishwasher for a while now and had never replaced the racks or the silverware hold. When should I replace it do they have a recomended “life” span? Mines lookin a little old….
Hello Pam, great question! If there is visible damage to the basket we recommend replacing it. The reasoning behind this is if it cracks and falls apart during cycle, it could break important components to your dishwasher. I hope this helps!

My current silverware basket measures 19.25 inches long with perhaps 1/4 inch space left over. How can a basket measuring 20 inches long fit into that same space?

Pulled out the old basket.
Threw it out!
Put in the new basket. Perfect fit and color match!

The bottom mesh of the original basket was deteriorating.
The silverware basket can be lifted out using an integral handle. I tossed it away when it started crumbling. When the new part arrived, I removed it from the box, and dropped into the recess in the lower section of the dishwasher. No tools required.

Holes in the bottom of the old silverware basket.
I opened the dishwasher door. Removed the old silverware basket and replaced it with the new silverware basket. Then I disposed of the old basket.

Simply took out the old tray and replaced it with the new one....VOILA!
