Question:

Is there any way to test the control board, have checked thermal fuse (continuity) and door switches which seems to be ok

David for model number DU945PWPB0
Answer:

Hi David, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately your board can only be tested by someone who knows how to do that, like a service repairman. There are just too many components on electronic boards to have a comprehensive testing list. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

Dish washer will not start. Light for dry heat lock is on. This light flashes three times if cancel button held down. I have checked handle lock switch and the thermal switch on primary board with meter and jumper by pass. My thinking is primary board failure, but flashing light may be code for other part failure. Any suggestion

leonard for model number 665.15812990
Answer:

Hi Leonard, Thank you for your inquiry. It sounds like a connection issue between the control panel with touchpad and the electronic control board and you will need to check them. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Question:

Unit does not respond when buttons are pressed, i.E.. normal wash, cancel, etc. but if left alone it will eventually run. would a new control board fix this or might it be a touchpad problem?

Philip for model number KUDC25CHSS1
Answer:

Hi Philip, Thank you for your inquiry. It could be either of those parts and also your door switch that you may want to test. You can test your door switch with a multi meter, to make sure that it is working correctly. Check to see if there is any discoloration or burn marks when looking at your wiring and board. You can test the ribbon between the board and the touchpad by testing pins 6-10 with a multimeter. On your ribbon, there will be an indicator (Either and arrow or number 1) letting you know which pin is number one. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

Where is the thermal fuse and where may i purchase it?

Dan for model number 9744039A
Answer:

Hello Dan, thank you for contacting us. The thermal fuse is usually located behind the back panel of the appliance. Without your model number we are unable to give exact instructions. You can purchase this part on our website by using your model number. Good luck with the repair!

Erratic lights, options unavailable, eventually no start

removed 8 torx screws and inner door panel. took off electronics cover, unplugged connectors & replaced circuit board. ran ok for two cycles, then failed to start again. Sears svc tech advised circuit board and the touch panel housing would have to be replaced as a unit. parts and labor $319. $65 svc fee paid, rcvd $65 coupon on new machine. Went in again and blew out ribbon socket connecting touch panel and circuit board. Now running OK. (??!) $100 for circuit board is good deal. Wasted $65 on svc call, to find out cost of authorized repair service was 50% of cost of new machine. We'll see how long it runs.

It would not run a full cycle and would light the cancel light, etc.

My 10 year old Kitchenaid dishwasher began performing erratically:
• It would not run a full cycle and would light the cancel light.
• It would erroneously light the "child lock" light.
• It would run the drain cycle and not stop.
I "rebooted" / reset it several times by powering off and back on, but it after a couple "reboots" it would not reset.
I checked the water sensor and the plumbing, pumps, and electronics visually but did not see anything awry.
It appeared to be a logic problem so my diagnosis led to the electronic board.
I ordered the board and received it very quickly (two business days).
Installation was easy:
1. Removed torx head screws on the top / inside of the door to release the plastic control panel & was careful removing it to avoid damaging the built in plastic brackets that hold it to the door. This was achieved by being sure all screws were out, then pulling the top of the plastic panel out away from the door. The "inverted V" shaped brackets pivoted and needed to be lifted off the metal frame on the door. Continue to support the panel and
2. Unplug the ribbon cable connecting control panel to board. Set panel aside.
3. Unplug all wire connectors from board.
4. Remove two 1/4" hex head screws that hold the board / backing frame to the door being VERY careful not to drop them into the door.
5. Replace with new board / backing frame.
6. Reconnect all wires.
7. Reconnect ribbon cable and install front control panel
8. Test
9. Eureka!
10. Wash some dishes...

That's my story!

Dishwasher finally would not complete cycle

Symptoms: at first the dishwasher would wash the dishes but not stop at the end of the cycle. After several weeks of using a timer and opening the door during the drying cycle and getting an estimate of $421.78 to fix the machine (we declined) the dishwasher finally would not go thru its whole cycle. I reasoned it must be the Control Assembly and ordered one. to install it I removed the 8 "star" screws in the door, removed the inside of the door, removed the black, plastic cover over the Control Assembly, disconnected all of the connectors to the Control Assembly and the two anchor screws. The Control Assembly then was easily removed. The installation was done in the exact reverse of the tear down. After the door was reassembled the dishwasher has worked correctly for over a week. I saved about $320 by doing the job myself. I hope the machine operates for another ten years.

Dishwasher would not work at all no lights nothing

i unpluged the diswasher and killed the electricity to it. next i opened the door and took all the screws out and slowly removed the cover from the door.watch out this will make the door try to close on you. then i figured out it was not the control assmebly but it was the thermal switch. it did not have continuity. everyone had said it was the control board that is why i ordered it but found out it was the thermal switch which only cost about $10.00 so I ordered one and replaced and fixed the problem. Thanks parts select for letting me return the control module. that would have been a $100.00 dollars wasted. Next time I will learn it is not always the most expensive piece that breaks. Thanks again hope this will help someone else out.

Eratic operation, in and out of "child lock"

Followed the video. Only issue was that the panel mount screws cracked the plastic nibs that the screws threaded into. I replaced the screws with a Chrome sheet metal screw a bit longer and it held. Easy job!
