Hi Kevin, thank you for the question. If you can kind of hear the motor try to start and then it just hums then the switch will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Washer will not start after filling without regard to the switch position, no sound, the motor does not appear to attempt to run, nothing at all. I am thinking the main switch what do you think?
For model number LA7700XSW0

Hi Steve, Thank you for the question, I would check the lid switch, PartSelect Number PS11723153, This seems to be the most likely problem when the appliance will not run after filling with water. If the lid switch is defective it can think the lid is open and prevent the washer to proceed with the next cycle. Good luck with the repair!

Hi Ramona, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, the issue appears to be with the following parts: coupling, part number PS1485646, and gearcase, part number PS341974. If that does not help, we would recommend checking the drive motor, part number PS11743427. We hope this solves your problem!

I replaced the leaking pump in the Kenmore washer, but I had to cut it off since the motor shaft corroded.to it. In the process the main motor switch might have been damaged, but it looks OK. Now, the washer fills but the motor just hums during agitation, spin and drain. I have not checked other motor speeds yet. The motor shaft rotates OK by hand. Recently, you all said to check the main motor switch for continuity if the motor just hums. Can you specify what leads to check? Can the switch be jumped to then prove that it is the switch and not the motor? Also, I think that switch is also called the Centrifugal switch. The switch arm appears to ride on a circular flange. So, is the switch an over-speed switch, where the flange will expand when spun very fast to cause the arm to move downward and shut the power off? Or, is the switch always on?

Hello Jack, thank you for reaching out to PartSelect. The motor start switch, part number PS11746107, is a good possibility and could be the issue. You can test the switch and see if it is bad. If the washer works ok on slow speed, then the centrifugal mechanism in the motor is working. Check continuity between the two outermost terminals of the switch. With the switch in place, it should read as a dead short. Pulling the switch away from the motor releases the switch lever arm, and now the reading should be an open circuit. If the washer works ok on slow speed, then the centrifugal mechanism in the motor is working. We hope this information is useful!

I have a Maytag mvwc6esww1. It recently started having issues switching into the spin cycle. It's happening roughly 80% of the time now. It will sound like it is switching and then it will stop and you only hear motor humming.

Kenmore washer does not agitate,it spins for rinse.Motor dont come on to wash
For model number 11023812100

Hi Herman, Thank you for your question. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the agitator directional cogs, the direct drive motor coupling, the lid switch assembly, the clutch assembly and the gearcase. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

After 31 years of continuous use, it played out.. symptons: on start up it just hums, no agitation, no spins cycles, the valves work fills and drains. there is no belt on this units as its direct drive. but there is some type of belt that is worn.. but not cause of this just wonder its really a belt or a seal/stripping of some type, its does not leak. i saw you made a comment it scould be the switch, (meaning the main time control switch or the main motor switch and it the main motors switch , is there a way to manually (safely) manually trip it to validate thats is the issue. i really want to fix this machine. its like part of the family and to worth the effort.

Hello Jorge, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, I don't have any information on testing the timer itself. I would suggest checking the lid switch as well, which is part number W10820036. If the unit is filling up, but wont agitate or spin, the issue could be the lid switch assembly, which activates to allow the unit to go through to the agitate and spin cycle. I hope this helps!

Hello, i was running a light load and the machine stopped at the rinse cycle and tripped the breaker and there was a burnt smell. I unplugged it and waited. It restarted but still stops before the rinse. I talked to a repair person and he thinks it might be the switch. Any further thoughts?Thank you, debora

Hello Debora, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: lid switch kit, and main drive motor switch. Also check the water inlet valve and drain pump, and make sure that you are getting cold water into the machine. Hope this helps!

I started the washing machine (small load). The machine filled with water but stopped completely. The control board is blank. I checked the switch and it's okay. The control board is good also. The power is good from the wall plug. Nothing works.
For model number 11022056100

Hello Charlie, thank you for your question. We would recommend testing the control panel itself and the ribbon connector that runs from the control panel to the board. Sometimes a bad connection or ribbon connector can cause the unit to not function. I hope this helps!
