Oven Out...Emergency!
The part arrived as promised (I paid for overnight). My son ,who is now an expert at installing this particular part ,had no problem and I had my oven ready for a day of cooking and a big family celebration.

Good part, Poor delivery.
The part was ordered Thursday evening with $24 dollars paid for overnight delivery. I was expecting a Saturday morning delivery. When the part did not arrive I was informed by Fed Ex that Saturday delivery is different than regular overnight when orders are processed on a Friday. They stated the vendor should have made me aware of this when charging me for overnight delivery. I didn't receive the part till midday on Monday 4 days after paying overnight shipping. Needless to say my tenants that made plans to be away on Saturday while I fixed the stove were not happy to return to a still non functioning oven and a further 2 day wait.When I called part select customer service they simply said "Fed Ex doesn't delivery on Saturdays in some areas" Not even mentioning the available Saturday delivery option, or offering to return my overnight charge. Very disappointing.Fed Ex does deliver on Saturday in my area when ordered properly.

Hello Kevin, Thank you for the review, Very sorry for the confusion. On the site it states we offer Next Business Day shipping, not Overnight shipping. Business Days are Monday through Friday excluding holidays. The shipping page states "You need your repair parts fast without any hassles and that's why if you order an in-stock appliance part before 4 pm ET Monday through Friday, we'll ship your part out that very same day. " Hope this helps explain the shipping times!

The oven door was locked and the touch panel was off line after a self clean cycle.
I simply removed the rear panel of the range and replaced the high temp. thermostat. The upper rear panel behind the back splash does not need to be removed.

Self-clean feature caused control panel to die and oven to stop working. Oven door remained locked.
This is a known defect with KitchenAid ovens. If your range is out of warranty, KitchenAid will do nothing to help. (They should really issue a recall). I figured out through research that the part is the thermostat fuse, so instead of paying a repair company to come to the house, diagnose the problem and do the repair, I ordered the part
... Read more on PartSelect.com. I probably saved myself $200. My husband did the repair and said it was really easy. It took him 10 - 15 minutes. He took a picture of the back of the oven with the back panel off, showing where the part is located, but looks like I'm not able upload images. All you need is to be able to pull your range out to get to the back of it and a screwdriver to remove some screws and replace the thermostat. Once the part was replaced, the control panel came back on, the oven unlocked and is now working again!! I will not use Self-Clean again - that is for sure!

during self clean oven shut down and door would not unlock.
after reading tips on your site I just removed 1/2 dozen or so screws took off back cover, part was right in the open, 2 more screws unplugged/replugged part, it worked! couldn't have been easier.

Gas range oven door stuck shut during self-clean
The thermostat blew during the oven self-cleaning cycle (apparently it's a common problem). Take off a few panels in the back of the range with a screw driver. The repair was simple, all you need to do is connect the new thermostat in place of the old one. Dont forget to unplug the stove before you get started. After replacing the part the stove worked just fine. From what I can tell from the research this is a common problem and there is no permanent fix. We are resigned to not using the self clean mode on the stove which is a drag, but it is cheaper than buying a new stove.

Hi. I had the oven on at 500 degrees. After i was done i had shut it off, i needed to use the oven again and the display was blank, and the oven will not turn on. Will replacing the thermostat do the trick?

Thank you for your question. It sounds more like your display module will need to be replaced as that is the part with the display on it. However you would be able to test your thermostat with a multi meter to determine if it is working correctly or not. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Hello Leslie, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the temperature sensor, PartSelect Number: PS11748765. Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. Thank you for your inquiry, good luck with this repair!
