Door Handle

The part itself is a perfect match for the old part and goes on easy. The issue is not with the fit or supplier-- both were great! The design itself is defective, for which the manufacturer of the washer bears the blame. The plastic is held in place by two small screws, and there is plenty of flex in the plastic itself. Meaning that whenever you tug on the handle to open the door it flexes on those two connection points-- and there is a surprising amount of give-- which translates to wear on the plastic around those connections. This is the second handle we've replaced, and both broke off at or near the connecting screws. Perhaps the handle needs to be made of sturdier plastic, or another stronger substance. Or perhaps there needs to be additional screws connecting the handle to the door. As it is, we fully expect this replacement to also fail in the next few years.

The screws on the handle were a very odd shape. Too bad manufacturers can't make it easy on consumers and use a universal size and shape. I made it work though.
