Cycling themostats continually cycle the heating element off and on to maintain a constant inner temperature within the dryer. This particular cycling thermostat can be adjusted between 135 and 155 degrees Fahrenheit. The differential of this thermostat is 20 degrees, meaning that with this thermostat, the heating element will cycle back on once the internal temperature drops by 20 degrees.

There are 3 thermostats on the back of my dryer, there are no numbers on my thermostats. How do i identify them? I need a temp control and a high limit
For model number 10076785100
Hi Lou,
Thank you for your question. Neither of the thermostats are actually named temperature control. However the two thermostats on your appliance are your cycling thermostat (this one here), that goes on your blower housing and your high limit thermostat, that goes right by your heating element. I have linked the part information for your high limit thermostat down below for you. Good luck with your repair.
Hello. My dryer is getting too hot. It even heats on a spin only cycle where there shouldn't be heat. On my blower housing i have a l160-20f 3072000 thermostat. I'm assuming that is a cycling thermostat? On my heater element i have 2 more thermostats. The one on the right side i believe to be the high limit thermostat which is a l200-30f 3033960 which i think is faulty. I put it on a frying pan and it shut off at only 100 degrees f. I have no idea what the thermostat on the left of the burner is though. It says it's a l325 3707500! Doesn't make sense to me why there would be 2 thermostats on the burner. Anyway, any idea why it's getting too hot? The thermal fuse and the thermistor fuse and the thermal fuse on the blower housing both have continuity and seem fine. I also tested the thermistor with the ohms setting and was around 10k at room temp so that's fine. All the thermostats also had continuity as well. Please help.
For model number MDE7550AGW
Hi Jamie,
Thank you for your question. If you have tested all the thermostats and the thermistor, you will need to test the exhaust vent. If your clothes dryer appears to be too hot on top of the cabinet, the problem may be with the exhaust vent. If the vent becomes restricted, air flow will be reduced and the temperature inside may rise causing the cabinet top to be hotter than normal. This normally results in the high limit safety thermostat tripping and the clothes will take longer to dry. This is a safety concern and the exhaust vent should be checked regularly and cleaned when required. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Automatic cycles don't shut off when they should so they overdry and overheat clothes. I'm afraid it might not shut off at all and cause a fire. Which thermostat should i replace?
For model number DE309
Hi Al,
Thank you for your question. If the dryer is not shutting off, you will need to check both the cycling thermostat and the high limit thermostat. There are some other parts that you will need to check to see which ones are causing the issue. You will need to check the door switch kit, the door latch kit, the belt and the drum support rollers. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Your question:I'm replacing part number 341146 with part number 694674. the new part has an adjustable temp setting (settings a - e). what setting do i want to set it at?
same question. i've watched the video before. it tells me to note the part number i'm replacing as it will be needed to tell where to set the new thermostat, but it never give any information as to what part numbers require what setting.
couldn't you just look it up and tell me the setting?
For model number LE5720XSN0
Hello Pat and thanks for writing.

The numbers on the part no 694674 don't match the original part number. What letter should i use to program my new part (on the back)?
For model number MDG4000BWQ
Hi Delia, Thank you for your question. The number 694674, has been changed to WP694674. When you purchase this part it will come with an instruction sheet that will tell you according to the numbers on the thermostat which letter you should be setting your part to. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Dryer will run for about 20 minutes then shuts off. After it cools down for about 1/2 hour then it starts again.
For model number MDG4806AWW
Hi Alan, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, the issue is most probably due to the thermal fuse, part number PS11742274. We hope this sorts out your problem!
Me again. The only reason i was double checking was that your site shows this symptom be be related to this part, that is why i was asking for a more expert opinion that my guessing:This is what is on your web site, is it inaccurate?

I just purchased the Kenmore dryer cycling thermostat from your company but i have a question on how to set the variable temp to a b c d e. Do you set it exactly on the letter (abcde) or just below or above it please. Thanks
For model number 1107108801
Hello Robin,
Thank you for your question. You will want to set the cursor over the corresponding letter as close to the letter as possible. We hope this helps.

I am not sure if this part is what I need. The dryer goes from drying to off. The dryer skips cool down and wrinkle guard cycle and shuts off. It dries the clothes but they are wrinkled if I do not get them out as soon as it shuts off. Can you help?
For model number MDG4806AWW
Hello Aaron,
Thanks for your question. There are a few different parts you will want to test with a multimeter to see if they have continuity. Replace them if they do not show continuity. Test the radiant flame sensor, the high limit thermal fuse, the temperature control thermistor, and the cycling thermostat. If these are all testing well, consider testing your motor as well and also check the door strike to ensure it is intact. If that is also working, it may be the electronic control board.
I hope this helps.
My replacement part i bought from y’all did not come with a chart to tell me how hot to set the new part!

Dryer not staying hot. Heat shuts off and doesn't come back on.
Detach front door and pop off front panel. Replaced heating unit on right and all parts on unit. Replaced cycling timer and thermostor on left. The thermostat was the last item replaced. We did this on three stages. First we replaced heating element, still had problem. Then we replaced the high limit and cycling thermostats, still had problem. Had a repairman out. He could not figure it out, because there were no error codes. He suggested replacing the thermostor. We did that and it fixed our problem. We could have saved alot if we did that first, but no one mentioned that part.
maytag dryer-no heat or heat at start-10 mins no heat
replaced high limit thermostat-303396 and cycling thermostat-306056 approx $48.00. Remove dryer door with 2 screws in hinges and 2 screws on other side.Remove front panel-pull out from top-swing down to unhinge from bottom hooks to expose parts lower front. Small socket for high limit thermostat bolts@heating element housing and same socket for cycling thermostat@blower exhaust air housing-both easily accessible in front lower area.Unplug power before working inside.
Took off back cover, thermostat was easily identified because of photos I've seen on website. Took 2 connectors off, removed 2 screws and removed old thermostat. That was pretty much it!
NOTE: Replacement thermostat 694674 has an adjustable temperature range setting that MUST be manually set prior to installing! You need to use the enclosed chart to find your original part# and make sure the setting is matched. My original part# 341146 had a "D" setting so I had to change but very easy to do.

Dryer was getting hotter than blue-blazes, melted synthetics, damaged belt
Removed back of dryer, there were 3 screws on each side. There were two thermostats on the output vent and one thermostat on the heating element housing. Adjusted the temp settings on the thermostats per the instructions received with each thermostat (cross-refernece of original number required). Each thermostat had two screws and two wires. Terminals were coded "1" and "3," must get correct wires back in same place. The heating element thermostat required to splice new connector on one wire (per instructions enclosed with thermostat).. Easy as pie. BELT: Remove screws from lint screen housing, then pry up front of top of dryer and swing back (make sure you are next to the wall so it doesn't fall.) Remove the bottom front panel, remove the door tension springs, remove the two screws on the front of the front panel and remove the two top screws on the inside of the door panel (leave the door attached, but use tape to hold it shut so it doesn't hit you on the head) Careful of the door switch wire, carefully lean door up so it doesn't fall. The Drum will fall when front panel is removed, so have someone to help you hold it up. You do not have to remove the drum. With your frend holding the drum, go under and pull the tension spring roller back to slack up the belt and remove the belt from the tensioner and motor pulley. Remove belt from drum. Wrap new belt around drum (ribs down facing drum) and re-route belt around pulleys according to diagram in instructions (same way you pulled it off). I did it by myself, but I got konked in the head by the door, so be careful. Easy, but awkward. Watch for sharp sheetmetal edges.
Used the computer to display error 02. Found Temp control shorted. Needed to replace Thermistor temp control. Thermostat, Cycling I purchased for spare part. All is well.
Took off the lower front panel, removed duct piece from filter to blower fan, removed two screws and two wires to thermostat in exhaust ducting, then replaced thermostat with new one. Very easy job and everything worked like new when I reassembled it.

Dryer not heating
Test all censors with a voltmeter like the video showed on you tube. I found out that the heating element wasn’t working so while I was there I swapped other thermostats and components to give my 20 year old dryer, some more life. Thank you partselect.com ( I got a adjustable thermostat which didn’t have any instructions, how to set the right temperature according to your previous thermostat. “You have to google it “ )
After the first flame the flame would not come back on
Turned out to be the primary coil on the gas valve. If you remove the cover of the coils and wait for the dryer to try to start the flame the coils are energized, a magnet is turned on. By lifting the coil you should feel the magnet if the flame is on. If the flame does not come on after the ignitor fires check to see if the coils are energized. If not buy the set, it's cheaper then purchasing them separately.
Dryer would run and heat but would cut off before clothes were dry would have to restart
Removed back cover and replaced parts was not sure what was bad so i replaced all have used it once since and it worked fine!!! It was really simple replacing parts. Have used Parts Select before and will again!!! thanks 70 dollars is better than buyin a new one right now!!!

No conversion sheet
The thermostat was just as expected and very easy to install. The problem was it didn’t come with conversion sheet as outlined on Parts Select website. I tried e mailing and did not get the list or any acknowledgement it existed. I then had to go online to try and get it and first person I had contact with had no idea what I was talking about but found the list. So a repair that should have taken thirty minutes turned into three plus hours trying to get the right information.
