The ice maker arm has fallen off many times and I simply replace it and it works fine and has for a long time, but this time it came off and when I replaced it, the arm will be in the down (on) position, 4-5 cubes will drop then the arm goes to the off position and stays there. There is water to the unit. I watched the video on replacing the arm, but when I do mine, I remove the drawers and using a mirror I am able to position the arm in the correct spot. Thank you for your question. If the arm is constantly falling off the issue could be where it attaches to the water fill cup, part number PS2366268. It may be damaged and may need replacing. If the fill cup end is fine then you should adjust the arm by spreading it to make it fit tighter in the fill cup. If the end going into the head is the side that the arm is falling out of, try spreading it to see if you can get it to stay in place. If it does not stay in place, there could be internal damage inside the head and the motor housing, part number PS11739202, may need to be replaced. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The ice maker arm does not stay in the upright position. Hence ice is constantly being made Does it sound like the arm needs replacing?

Hi Allen, thank you for reaching out. Make sure your refrigerator thermostat is set to 0ºF for maximum ice production. Your ice maker will not make any ice if the temperature exceeds 5ºF. Make sure the ice maker shut-off arm is pushed down. If the arm is up, your ice maker will not make any new ice. Check for blockages like ice build-up or jammed ice cubes. If you find any, remove them with a plastic knife, or let your refrigerator defrost. The water line might be blocked or damaged. Check the water line. Ensure that your water valve is fully opened and that it has no blockages. If all the checks are fine, we recommend replacing the cycling thermostat, part number PS11743313. I have never used the ice maker because I have a well and didn't want to usewell water to make ice. I usually make ice with bottled water. I decided to try making ice with gravity fed water from a converted water fountain placed on a higher level than the refrigerator, locater in my garage next to the kitchen. When I looked at the rear of the frig. I saw a copper pipe (on the bottom of the frig.) that lead to a valve, with a plastic tube that went to the freezer. I didn't think that the gravity fed water could go down to the bottom and return to the freezer at the top, so I cut the plastic tube, and fed the water directly to the ice maker. I only put a small amount of water in my water source because I wasn't shure what would happen. The water filled the tray and the rest of the water went to the container that catches the ice. I did get one tray of ice. I later found that the valve that the copper pipe went to, has a 7 minute timer that only allows a small amount of water to pass. My next effort will be to connect to the copper pipe and see if it will allow the gravity fed water to rise to the ice maker. Wish me luck

Replacing broken or lost parts

Ice Maker Making Large Block of Ice, Level Broken, Pantry Cover broken
Pantry Cover:
I just slided out the tray, and unscrewed the left pantry panel that was broken, and replaced it with the new one, then put in the new cover after sliding the trays back in.
Ice Maker:
I unplugged the power connector in the back, unscrewed the ice maker with a flat screw driver (3 screws), slide it out, and then unplugged the wiring from the old ice maker and put it into the new one, mounted the new ice maker back in, make sure the lever is working, and then closed the freezer to let it cool down so that water can start flowing to it when it becomes cold enough (took about a good hour or so before water started filling the ice maker). Once the freezer was cold enough, water started filling the ice maker, and it begin making ice again.
