Single Outlet Water Valve Specifications

The single outlet water valve may also be known as the water inlet valve and is compatible with your refrigerator. This valve has a quarter-inch tubing inlet connection. When energized, this part releases water from the supply line into the ice mold. The purpose of this part is to supply water to the water dispenser and the ice maker within the refrigerator. To make this installation you will need a quarter-inch nut driver and a sharp utility knife. To make this repair you will need to pull your appliance away from the wall and disconnect the electrical source and the water supply.

Ice Maker Cycling But Not Making Ice
Adding water to Ice Maker, caused ice to be made. I assumed the Single Outlet Water Valve to be problem (despite %4 probability). I suppose problem could have been in the ice maker itself and it's interface to the Single Outlet Water Valve but fortunately the Single Outlet Water Valve solved the problem. The Parts Select replacement part video was very helpful and the replacement was fairly easy. Were the problem in the Ice Maker itself, I don't know that I could have justified the cost of the the repair for a 17 year old refrigerator.

My ice maker went out, I decided to replace the single outlet water valve as well.
removed the cover from the back of the refrigerator, and used the nutdriver to loosen screw on the single outlet water valve, removed the old water valve and the hoses to it. Connected the hoses to the new valve and attached to the wall of the refrigerator by tightening the screw. Then removed the old ice maker from the inside of the refrigerator, by loosening the two screws and attached the new one, I tightened the screws and then I was done. It is working great.

water spilling from the ice maker
The whole job went smoothly, just the way others have described it. Unfortunatlly the water valve was not the problem. The problem was that ice had formed where the water enter's the tray . and therefore could not get into the ice forming area and just spilled into the refrigerator. I removed the ice maker(2 screws and cable connector.) let the ice melt and reconnected all is well again.

What kind of water filter do you use for this model and where does it go?
For model number MTB1956BEW
PartSelect logo
Hi Denise, Thank you for your inquiry. According to your model information, although you have an optional ice maker kit, it looks like there was no filter added. You might have to consider using an in line filter on your appliance. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair!

I have a leak top right corner back of fridge where water supply line goes into ice maker it's not the plastic tube but the white thing the tube goes into is there a washer or something behind that white piece that needs to be replaced. Watched the video for valve replacement but that was at the bottom mine is at the top
For model number mtf2193arq

Hi Wayne, Thank you for your question. The piece you are referring to sounds like it is the water fill cup and bearing, part number PS11743318. This refrigerator ice maker fill cup dispenses the water into the ice cube mold during the fill cycle. Replacing the water fill cup is a possible solution if you notice that the ice maker is leaking, or not making/dispensing ice. If you notice the fill cup has been damaged or cracked; replace the part straight away. If this is not the correct part, please let us know. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
