Ice cubes position makes crushed ice
After installing the new solenoid and hooking it up as per the wiring diagram still the ice maker crushes the ice cubes in both "crushed ice" and "ice cubes" pisition (solenoid would not produce the magnetic field). Instead it is getting very hot.
So, i need an additinal advise.

Icemaker was giving crushed ice only
First I rolled the fridge out and unplugged the power cord. I then removed the ice bin. There was one screw to the left under the ice bin rack holding it in. After removing that screw, I could pull the rack out far enough to disconnect the electrical connector. You have to squeeze the wings b-4 you can pull the connector loose. I put the rack on the countertop, removed two screws and the solenoid with plunger came out. I replaced the old solenoid, put everything back together, and realized I probably just saved myself $300. My Wife thinks I'm a Hero again. It works fine now.

seloniod failed and ice maker only made crushed ice
Removed screw onder on left side of ice maker shelf. Then removed shelf while disconnecting the wires behind. Removed selonoid and yolk and simply reinstalled in reverse order. The customer service was great because I first ordered the wrong part and was easily returned and correct part sent. If you are ordering and have questions call them. If you sense your agent doesnt have the full knowkedge you need I would ask for another one. This is why my original part was wrong. They handled my problem and I was pleased.

After a recent power outage, the dispenser has no functions. No light, will not dispense ice or water. Checked the lock function, no led light, trying to unlock does nothing. What can we try? Side by side Maytag refrigerator, 15 yrs old. Everything else working great. Still making ice and temp is fine.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for the great question. It sounds like unfortunately your Dispenser Control Board might have experienced a surge when you had your power outage. You can test a couple of other parts to see if they are the ones giving you a problem. You can test the Limit Switch in your dispenser area, the Ice Dispenser Solenoid, and your Water Inlet Valves. I hope that helps!

Hi Paul,
Thank you again for the inquiry. You can usually test both of those parts with a multi meter. Remove both parts from the appliance. Then calibrate your multi-meter by setting it to the lowest setting. Then calibrating it so that the needle is on zero. Once you have done that you can take the two probes, pressing them to the prongs of the parts. If either stay at zero, then you will know that the part has gone bad. I hope that helps!
