The old pump was beginning to drag due to the age of the washer.
Removed the front panel. Then blocked up the front of the machine. Removed the pump belt. Removed the 3 5/16" screws from the bottom of the old one and tilted it slightly to remove. Put the new one in and reinstalled the 3 screws. Put the belt back on and slid new pump all the way to the right and tightened 1 screw. Loosened the screw until there was about 1/4" of gap when squeezed the belt together. Tightened the one screw, then the other 2. Put the front panel back on and lowered the machine. New pump works great.

waterpump leaked where plastic housing upper and lower halves were bonded
new replacement water pump leaked where plastic housing upper and lower halves were bonded, presumably with glue. As a quick fix I wrapped pump with some 3M 4411N sealing tape. Seems to have stopped or really slowed leak. I was going to get another new pump but now worried it will leak as well so going to see how long tape fix works..

Water won't drain, slight water leak, unbalances frequently
My washer was sitting in a safety drain pan which made it difficult to work on due to the height of the pan walls. Managed to tilt it back and support on blocks well enough to access underside. Found two of the four leveling feet had fallen off, which was the ultimate cause of the problems from the cumulative effect of running unbalanced over time. Reinstalled these feet and had to remove rust to do so. I added two more nuts to the front feet to hold the adjustment tight. After adjusting to level, washer ran great and was no longer prone to unbalance. Procedure: Remove front panel- two lower screws and pry/pull off. Remove hoses at pump. Remove 3 mounting screws from pump. Remove belt from pump pulley. Push motor towards center of washer to release tension from other belt, and remove belt. Replace with new belt. Replaced old drain hose to pump and replaced all hose clamps with new. Install pump, replace pump belt. Level the washer. Replace front panel. Take the opportunity while the washer is open to clean out the dust from inside!

I had a Burning Rubber smell, along with water leaking from the bottom of machine.
I propped up the machine. Turned the water off .took the pump belt off, then took the two hose clamps off. With a bucket and towels on hand for left over water in the hoses, i removed the two hoses. Then removed three screws that held the pump on. Installed the new pump in reverse order.

Washer stopped draining
Removed wet close and removed 99% of all the water with a simple sifon hose and sponges. Diconnected electric and water supply hoses. Layed washer on its back. Removed front of washer. Disconnected hoses to water pump and checked for blockage. None. You need to capture the risidual water from the hoses and the pump if you are working in an area that cannot tolerate spills. Pulled pump out (three screws) put a screwdriver and blocked the pump impellar and rotate the punps pully. Pully rotaded freely so the pump is bad. The two belts were pretty worn out so I replaced them also. Hooked up everything in reverse. Adjusted the tension of the belts as required. The drive belt for the pump should be pinched to 1/4". Checked the moter glides also. Put everything back together, checked for leaks and did a load of wash. Everything good. Dismanteling and diagnostics and clean up took about 30'. Assembly took another 30'. Purts fit perfectly.

Washer was not draining completely & at times a small amount of water would leak from under the washer.
Followed the instructions on-line. Pulled the washer out from the wall, tipped it back about 45 deg. & removed the two philips screws as the base of the front of the washer.Removed the old belts which showed little wear, disconnected the hoses from the pump. Replaced the pump which was held in by only 3 nut-head screws, attached the belts & adjusted the tesnion as described on the website.

The pump pulley came off the washer. Is this a factory mounted pulley attached to the pump permanently or is it attached by a bolt? Can i just bolt it back on or would i have to replace the entire pump assembly? Thank you.
For model number Maytag lse7806acq

Hello Gerry, thank you for contacting us. You would need to replace the whole pump as that pulley is not sold separately or removable. Hope this helps!

When the belt is disconnected will the water pump turn freely or with some resistance?
For model number A712

Hi Richard, Thank you for the question. The pump should turn freely with a bit of resistance but should still be fairly easy to turn. Hope this helps!

Does the pump in this model wash machine control the water staying in the tub as its filling? Is there any chance that the drain could siphon the water out of the tub as its filling, or is there a check valve to hold water in the tub?
For model number A512S serial no. 171539
PartSelect logo
Hi Milton, Thank you for the question. I would start by making sure you do not have a siphoning issue. First check to make sure the drain house is not pushed into the home drain. Then check to make sure the home drain is not plugged or blocked. Some people stuff a rag or paper towel around the gap between the hose and the drain hole thinking it will make the hose fit into the home drain more secure. There needs to be air flow between the drain hose and the outside diameter of the drain hole. It is also a good idea to check the Siphon Break Kit and the Siphon Break Elbow Kit with Clamp. Make sure they are not cracked or damaged or nothing could be blocking them. Hope this helps!

Q#1 how old is my machine? It's actually my moms and i'm trying to help her either fix or replace her machine.Q#2 it was overloaded with a big comforter and just stopped doing anything after emitting a burning belt smell, i want to diagnose the problem but the tub is really full of water. how do i get the water out, so i can figure out what's wrong without spilling water everywhere? thank you for your support ;-)
For model number LAT7304AAE
PartSelect logo
Hello Ross, Thank you for contacting us. Please submit a follow up including the serial number of the unit so we can determine the age. If unplugging the unit and plugging it back in after 1-2 minutes does not force the water to drain, try to move the timers into the spin cycle so it can drain. If that fails then you would have to manually empty the water. Hope this helps!

Hi, i have a problem i hope you can help me with. My washer will not complete a cycle. It agitates fine. But when it starts into the spin cycle, it starts then promptly stops. I don't have a meter. Please help!
For model number LAT8240AAW

Hi Linda, thank you for your question. When you appliance will not advance there are a few parts that you should check. You should take a look at your lid switches and your timer itself. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

When washer goes to spin the hose connecting to water pump collapse and won't drain, could it be the pump or the hose.
For model number mat12PDLAW
PartSelect logo
Hi Nancy, Thank you for your question. If the hose is collapsing, it may not be fastened tightly. This can restrict water flow and increase the pressure on the hose. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My machine leaks a small amount of oil. Do i need to worry about it running out of oil
For model number A107A
PartSelect logo
Hi Joe, Thank you for your question. Yes, eventually you would run out of oil in your machine. How fast that occurs depends on how much oil you are leaking. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Clothes are still extremely wet after spinning. I have replaced belts, spring kit. If i pull the motor towards the front of the machine, (you can hear and see it spinning faster), during spinning it spins out the water fine, so do not think its the drain pump. Any help will be very appreciated
For model number LAT9706AAE
PartSelect logo
Hello Terry, thank you for your question. There is a speed control switch on the control panel that might be stuck, or not functioning. I would recommend checking that part first, and if that part is functioning properly you might want to check and/or replace the motor, and drain pump. I hope this helps!

Washer leaks water while spinning/draining and even when.letting clothes sit in the soak cycle and lifting the lid for awhile. Starting to get loud as if a bearing is failing as washer spins to drain. I haven’t been able to pull the washer out and look closer but I suspect the drain pump could be an issue along with the main tank seal/bearing. Any suggestions on anything else to look at or replace?
For model number LAT2500AAE
PartSelect logo
Hello Doug, thank you for reaching out. Based on the description that you have provided, we would recommend replacing the tub bearing kit, part number PS2347235, to fix the issue. The tub bearing kit is fastened in the middle of the outer tub of your washer. The tub bearing ensures the inner tub is spinning effortlessly. If the rub bearing is faulty, it might leak water and become noisy. We hope this helps, good luck with this repair!
