    How do you test it
    For model number WED5521SQ0
Hello Ralph, Thank you for your inquiry. You would test the timer with an ohmmeter and I have included instructions. Disconnect the power source to your dryer before you conduct this or any other test. Either unplug the unit from the wall outlet, remove the appropriate fuse from the fuse box, or flip the appropriate breaker in the circuit breaker panel. The purpose of a dryer timer is to control the unit's cycles by regulating the length of time that power is directed to each component. It is not common for dryer timers to malfunction, and they are often misdiagnosed as having failed when they are actually fully operational. TIP: If you do have a timer motor that has failed, consider replacing just the motor itself and not the entire assembly. Timer motors can be considerably cheaper than the complete timer assembly. Before you can begin to test your dryer's timer motor, you must first locate the device. It is a part of the timer assembly. Dryer timer assemblies are located behind the control console panel. You may only have to remove the screws securing the front control panel in place, or, depending on your model, your may have to remove the rear panel behind the control panel. Label the wires connecting to your timer motor so that you will be able to correctly reconnect them later. Carefuly remove the wires. Do not pull on the wire itself. Instead, use needle nose pliers to pull gently on the wire connector. Set your ohmmeter to the R x 1 setting. Take each probe and touch it to one wire. A normal reading for most dryers is in the 2000 to 3000 ohms range. Try to locate a schematic for your dryer. It should be in one of the service areas of your dryer or in the owner's manual. This schematic should indicate the proper resistance reading for your specific timer motor. If the reading you receive from testing your timer's motor differs greatly from the range presented here, then you should replace your timer motor, or the entire timer assembly. Hope this helps!

Dryer runs in fluff air and timed drying but no heat but timer runs properly. Dryer runs in automatic dry with no heat but timer does not advance, just non stops runs until manually shut off. Is the problem being caused by the timer control?
    For model number LER7648PQ0
Hello Joe, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: heating element, thermal fuse, thermal cut off kit, internal bias thermostat, high limit thermostat and the temperature switch. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

My dryer won't turn on - no matter which cycle i chose. I've already replaced the door switch (#3406107) and the start switch (#3398095), but no luck. The interior light comes on when I open the door and goes off when I press on the door switch. What other part(s) could be the culprit ?
    For model number LER7648PQ0
Hello Caroline, thank you for contacting us. A few other parts that may cause this symptom would be the Thermal Fuse part PS11741460, the Internal-Bias Thermostat part PS11741405, or the Drive Motor with Pulley part PS334304. We hope this helps out.

        Dryer cycle would never end
I furst unplugged the dryer. I pulled the knob off the timer and removed the screw holding the timer to the front panel. I then removed the hex nuts holding the steel panel on the upper portion of the dryer from behind and removed the cover. I located the timer and removed two more screws holding the timer onto the main housing. From there it was as easy as removing each color coded wire and relocating the wires to the new timer. I resecured the new timer in the reverse order and plugged the dryer back in. It couldnt have been any easier!

Timer broke during a recent move.
Unbolted the back panel, unhooked the wires, unbolted the part. Reversed the order with the new part and done. Happy wife, happy family. The wire colors are marked on the part, easy to change out. Plug and play at its best.
