This burner cap assembly is sold with the spark electrode igniter and has a 7-inch outer diameter. This manufacturer-approved surface burner is for gas ranges. The surface burner supplies the heat to a cooking area on the cooktop. You may need to replace your burner cap if the gas igniter glows but will ignite the flame, the range will not start, or if you can smell gas. Because a faulty burner cap could lead to a house fire, it is recommended that you replace this part as soon as you realize it is faulty. Remember to unplug the range, turn off the gas, and let the unit cool down before starting this installation. Note: this part has been redesigned and no longer requires a gasket, and is sold individually.

This part works with the following brands: Maytag, Magic Chef, Hardwick, Jenn-Air, Crosley, Admiral, Amana, Norge.

This part works with the following products: Range, Cooktop, Microwave Oven Combo.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Gas igniter glows, but will not light.
  • Will Not Start.
  • Element will not heat.
  • Gas smell.

Missing gasket under burner caused gas to leak out

I followed the video and it was incredibly easy. I shut the breaker off (we live in an apartment, and pulling the plug on the stove wasn't possible). I lifter out the old burner (the gasket underneath was corroded, and I just threw it out, as the newer burners are self-sealing); removed both the igniter wire and the ground wire (I needed a pliers to tug the igniter wire off); attached the new burner; replaced the burner; turned on the power; and voila!

Sealed burner was rusted out. Had a hole in it.

Unplugged two connectors and plugged into new burner. Couldn't have been easier! Also, I was so pleased that it matched the other three burners exactly!

Melted electric kettle onto gas burner

The repair was a simple replacement, no tools needed. The old burner and grate came out as easily as the new parts went in. PartSelect Customer Service Rep D. Hanham helped me find and order the correct grate. Great Customer Service!

Original burner was eroded on the bottom and flame was coming from undernealth the burner

Very easy. I disconnected the original burner with one turn as well as the two wire connections for the electronic igniter. I then connected the wires to the same positions on the new burner and placed the new burner in place with one half turn to match the indented openings to secure the burner tightly in place.

Burners would not light

replace burner-had to hit old burn with rubber mallet to break off grease and took old burner off-two wires were connected to it..put those on new burner and was done--have a little problem--flame is lower now than it was-but it turns on

The burner would not lite. There was an intermittent spark from that burner.

Your site was easy to navigate, which made determining the problem from other customers easy, and choosing the correct part to replace the malfunctioning burner.

The malfunctioning burner was easy to remove by twisting it a quarter turn counter clockwise, removing the two wires and replacing it with the new burner cap with electrode.

All the burner caps had badly rusted; tip-off was the smell of gas.

Our handyman took off the burner caps and checked after we reported smelling gas. We ordered the replacements here, and they arrived by only the 2nd business day, instead of 3-5 as expected. The only hard part was scouring off the rust, with SOS pads, from the stove top before putting on the new burner caps (a simple plug-in)!! This is very important to check on your stove; you could blow-up your house! The gas was escaping under the old burner cap, through the rusted-out portions.
