My dryer will not start and makes no clicking noise when i try to cut it on. Based on internet if it was thermal fuse or door switch it would click. Is there any noise when the starter switch is bad. The door switch as replaced a few years back and it looks good, the plastic piece is not lose.
For model number LER5636JQ0
Hi Brenda, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the thermal fuse, the door switch, the internal bias thermostat, the drive motor with pulley, the door catch, the belt, the push-to-start switch, the high limit thermostat and the drum support rollers. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

On my dryer the push button starts the dryer and the switch can be turned to the left or right to turn on or off the cycle signal. Does this switch do this or is it just to start the dryer?
For model number 11060722990
Hello Jeffrey, thank you for your question. The push to start switch starts the dryer, and also turns to activate the buzzer. The buzzer is replaceable separately, however, and that is Part #: PS11743788. I hope this helps.

My dryer stopped working , is this the part it needs? Thank u
For model number 11062712100
Hi Tina, thank you for your question. It could be this part but there are others you should check as well. The first parts to check in this case would be all of your thermostats and thermal fuses. You can test those parts with a multi meter and they should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. If those parts are fine, you should then go on to testing your heating element as well. You can also test that with a multi meter and it should be reading between 0 - 50 ohms. Something else you should also check would be your filter and ducts. Make sure there is absolutely no blockage that would restrict air flow in your appliance. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Push to start switch was bad so i replaced it. But i forgot to note the position of the wires. One plastic block with two blue wires plugs into two of the tabs on the right of the back of the switch. The other two tabs on the left receive the black wire and one red/white wire. Which goes where? And does it matter if they are reversed?
Hi Jim, Thank you for your question. The red and white wire goes on the right side terminal with the switch attached to the appliance. The black wire goes to the left side terminal. Good luck with your repair.

This push to start button has four terminals. Looking from the back it has two horizontal blades on the left side and on the right side, two vertical blades. The two horizontal blades on the left are connected to a black wire and two (2) red and white wires. The vertical blades are connected to tan color wires. Please let me know how to test this switch to make sure it should be replaced. Thank you so much.
For model number 110.64732400
Hi Manuel, thank you for your question. You would test this part with a multimeter. If the part is reading infinite ohms, then it would need to be replaced. Good luck with your repair.

Question part ii: Thank you for your prompt response. The expert who answer my e-mail indicated that the push-to-start button should be tested with a ohm meter, of course! But, where do i connect the meters leads. As indicated, there are two sets of blades, two horizontal and two verticals. I would appreciate more precise directions. Thank you.
For model number 110.64732400
Hi Manuel, thank you for your question. You would press one prong of your multi meter to one of the terminals then take the other one and press it one by one on the others. Continue doing that until you have tested all of the combinations. When you are doing this activate the switch. It could read closed for continuity. If it does not then the switch is bad. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

    Dryer would not start
I replaced the push to start switch, but it still would not start. My son helped me and he found that the thermal fuse was bad, we replaced it and we had the dryer back to working fine. The wiring diagram was taped in the back of the dryer and it was the best help that we used.

Kenmore 70 series dryer wouldn't stop running
The start switch on my Kenmore dryer was bad, causing the dryer to go into another timed cycle once it completed one cycle, and it would keep going until we unplugged it or left the door open. I repaired the switch at first, but after a couple of months the contacts bent again, so I just decided to replace it.

The new switch from PartSelect.com was only $8 or so plus shipping. Once I got the switch, I removed the rear access panel, disconnected the bad switch, and replaced it with the new switch. I closed the dryer up and it worked beautifully.

You can find detailed instructions on replacing the push-to-start switch on a Kenmore 70 series dryer on Fixya.com:

    Dryer just stoped
Even with the power left on, I used some insulating pliers and carefully pulled the 4 wires off what I thought might be the problem switch.
It was not the problem. They dryer still does not run. Something else

Dryer would not work only light when door opened
Open back of dryer. Using multimeter traced wires until I located push put switch and thermal fuse opened. Ordered parts. Cleaned the vent tube because of higher heat opening thermal fuse. Replace wires on the matching terminals to switch and thermal fuse.
