Question:

My dryer will not start and makes no clicking noise when i try to cut it on. Based on internet if it was thermal fuse or door switch it would click. Is there any noise when the starter switch is bad. The door switch as replaced a few years back and it looks good, the plastic piece is not lose.

Answer:

Hi Brenda, Thank you for your inquiry. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the thermal fuse, the door switch, the internal bias thermostat, the drive motor with pulley, the door catch, the belt, the push-to-start switch, the high limit thermostat and the drum support rollers. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Kenmore 70 series dryer wouldn't stop running

The start switch on my Kenmore dryer was bad, causing the dryer to go into another timed cycle once it completed one cycle, and it would keep going until we unplugged it or left the door open. I repaired the switch at first, but after a couple of months the contacts bent again, so I just decided to replace it.

The new switch from PartSelect.com was only $8 or so plus shipping. Once I got the switch, I removed the rear access panel, disconnected the bad switch, and replaced it with the new switch. I closed the dryer up and it worked beautifully.

Dryer would not start

I replaced the push to start switch, but it still would not start. My son helped me and he found that the thermal fuse was bad, we replaced it and we had the dryer back to working fine. The wiring diagram was taped in the back of the dryer and it was the best help that we used.

Dryer would not start, and when started, would not stay started

I started out changing the push/start switch, it wasnt that, changed the thermal fuse , it wasnt that, changed the cycling thermstat and limit thermostat...it wasnt that.. Parts store employee, tested the heater element, I told him I changed it last year, he tested and it was still good.I tested the lid switch, it was good, tested timer advance switch...it was good. Finally, a repairman told me it was the motor, and I wasnt commited to buying a new motor for this dryer, just to have somthing else major break on it, so I bit the bullet and JUNKED this one, and bought a used one for the unit that we are renting, till our lease is up. Sorry to say that PartSelect didnt help me this time ,as they had been GREAT other times before...I will keep using and refering people to them.
