This hi-limit thermostat acts as as safety mechanism that keeps the dryer from overheating. Once the dryer temperature reaches a certain point, this piece will shut down power to the heating element.

Will hear element#wp8544771 and high limit thermostat#wp339914 work on above model dryer?
For model number WED8300SW0
Hello Lynn, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, these are the correct part numbers for your model. You can also get the high limit thermostat and thermal fuse as part of the thermal cut off kit part# 279973. Hope this helps!

I know that one terminal on the hi limit thermostat connects to the low limit thermostat and the other terminal connects to the heating element. Does it matter which one? Don't know if the writing on it should be right side up or upside down. The video doesn't say.
For model number GEW9200LW1
Hi Steven
Thank you for your question. There is a video listed with the thermostat on our website that you may reference on how to install it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

What reading should i get when i check if i need a new heating thermostat?
For model number MED9700SQ0
Hello Ted, Thank you for writing. 7E- Temperature Control Error (Over Heating) - Check to make sure unit has adequate ventilation. Check control board PartSelect Number PS11746365 , and all thermostats PartSelect Number PS11746740 , PartSelect Number PS334387 , PartSelect Number PS11741456 for defects. Replace if faulty. We hope this helps.
On your Bulkhead parts diagram, for the heating element housing, there are 2 thermostats listed as available. What is the difference between parts #47: the High Limit Thermostat and Thermal Cut Off Kit; and #48: High limit Thermostat L295-50F? If the High Limit Thermostat included in #47, where does it go?
For model number KEHS01PMT1
Hello Marc, Thank you for the question. #47 is the High Limit Thermostat and the Thermal Cut-Off Fuse together. #48 is just the Thermostat on its own. We recommend replacing both parts in the kit as they work together and both go on the Element housing. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi, my Maytag dryer will turn on and led lights go on but when I press start, I hear a click but it actually doesn’t start. The motor doesn’t go on and the tumbler doesn’t turn. Is it enough to just change the dryer thermal fuse or do I also need to change the thermostat? Right now i just ordered the thermal fuse and waiting for delivery. Thanks
For model number YMED9600SQ0
Hello Melisa, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Door Switch PartSelect Number: PS334284. This part recognizes whether the door is open or closed and will prevent the appliance from starting if the door is open. Hope this helps!
My dryer will not cool down at the end of the cycle. Clothes are so hot. Is this the high limit thermostat or the heating element problem?
For model number WED9151yw0
Hello David, thank you for your question. That is most likely an issue with the PartSelect Number PS334387 hight limit and thermal cut off fuses, or the internal bias thermostat PartSelect Number PS11746740. We would recommend testing/replacing those parts. We hope this helps.

Clothes would not Dry
I simply removed the back of the dryer to gain access to the heating element. Once I removed the heating element I figured I would also replace the thermostat and thermal fuse as preventive maintenance.
1st. i removed the two screws that holds the cover. 2nd. -vacumn (most time used)around to find the screws that hold the metal heat tube and shield. 3 rd. removing the screws tip the front of the tube up and pull out from the back.my element was clipped in place. I then pulled the element out and replaced the thermostat (tip: replace all t'stats around the heat element). it is as simple as reading the repair stories
Took the back off the dryer. Found heating element unhooked the electrical connectors to the element, the high temp thermostat and the fuse backup. Opened the front kick plate, took the casing with element, ht thermostat and fuse bu out. Changed all three parts and reinstalled them. Turned on dryer and had heat. Been working great ever since.
