baffle fell off
I followed the Part Select tutorial on Instant Repairman and retrieved the missing screws at the base of the dryer as described in the tutorial and after trying to reassemble the original baffle notice the baffle screw holes were stripped. The Short and Tall Baffles needed to be replaced after falling off
Go to Youtube and type in the repair (baffle repair). Carefully took apart the dryer as video instructed by unscrewing all necessary parts and took pics of the screws and parts as I went along, so that I could put back together without any problem. I did the repair myself not my husband. I will say, that it helps if you have an extra p

Others have described how to remove 4 screws and remove the front panel of the dryer. The problem I saw is that some screws broke off and fell inside while others remained on the separated baffle. My solution to the slotted holes was to use washers on the screws and to tighten the screws in the position where any force was not going to move the screws to the center position of the slots. The force of the separation caused the slotted holes to expand.

Baffel broke and came off
Really easy to replace. All I had to do was remove the screws on the hinges and two on the other side. Used a nut driver to remove the brackets that hold the lid down. Secured the lid open and used the nut driver to remove the screws that hold the baffel son (two on each) and replace the baffel and secure with the screws. Reversed the the

One of the Baffles came loose.
I took out screws holding top to dryer & raised the top & proped it up to gain access to inside of the dryeeer drum. I then inatalled the new baffle & secured it with 2 screws. It would have been better if the part came with new screws. It was hard to determine which was the right screws for this application.
removed the front panel and lifted the top up. turned the tumbler and screwed down the new baffles from the outside. Used washers because the screw holes were bent from the old baffles.

Hi, d you know if this model has a short baffle or a tall baffle? I do not want to order the wrong one. Thank you.
For model number MDE5500AYW
Hi Tanisha,
Thank you for your question. Your dryer has both a short and a tall baffle. The tall baffle is approximately 4 1/4 inches high and the short baffle is approximately 3 1/4 inches high. You will need to measure the baffles in your dryer drum to see which one you need. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

I need the long baffle for my dryer. What screws will it take ? Can a person do it themselves? Do you have to take the drum out to do it?
For model number MDE9390AYW
Hi Kandie,
Thank you for your question. The short baffle would be the longer of the 2 different types of baffles in your dryer. It measures approximately 17-1/2 inches long. If you would like to place an order for it, you may order it either online or by calling our customer service line and anyone will be happy to assist you. The baffle is not hard to install and there is a video listed with the part on our website that you may reference on how to install it. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.
