This thermal fuse mounts on your dryer's blower wheel housing. It will cut out once your dryer's internal temperature reaches 183 degrees Fahrenheit, and will not cut in again. Like a house fuse, you will have to replace it when it blows.

Fixed it easily
I received the right part after I ordered the wrong one, and it fit. I just wish the videos that are on here, were for older appliances as mine is OLD, at least 25 yrs old, if not older. So the videos that show what you should have to do, don't go with my old stuff. I finally found a video on another site that gave me a bit of a better idea on how to replace it and it was actually only 15 minutes to fix.
I am glad your return policy is as good as it is, but when I put info into your search bar, I never get the real part I need and I have to do a bigger search.
But I did fix my dryer again, and come to find it out, I don't think I needed this part anyway, as a wire from the door latch part was loose and when I put that wire back on it worked but I went ahead and changed out the part anyway, I had it and why not?

My electric heater element shorted out
My heater element shorted out causing my dryer to overheat and blow the thermal fuse. I replaced the heater element, the thermal fuse, and the High limit fuse. Everything is working perfectly now.
I bought all the recommended parts for this trouble, but it turned out to be caused by burt wire on terminal block causing separation from block as all latches, motor, breakers, elements, switches and thermal sensors tested positive continuity, I finally decided to look in rear panel where incoming power meets terminus to motor, etc. and
... Read more wires were burnt at ends and post on block was separated from base. I got on phone immediately to customer service to order part shown on their very helpful schematic diagram seen on partselect website. The part was unfortunately discontinued but may be available from other sources. She explained how to search based on part # and the words " terminal block" which directed me to a supplier in MI. Repair completed once appropriate part was received. Thanks again for the direction given even though part was not purchased in the end. Will certainly return to partselect in the future if any issues come up in future. Very helpful site for the DIY'er!!
My 20 yr old Maytag dryer had experienced this problem about 10 years ago. At that time I replace the Gas Dyer Radiant Flame sensor and it fixed the problem. I figured a sensor went bad again however I opted to replace all of the sensors at once thinking I'm avoiding potential future issues and the dryer will out live me. Replacing the se

First I took the back and front off and vacuumed up the built up lint. I couldn't see anything glaringly wrong, so I started looking online and found www.partselect.com . I went through the list of things to check one by one until I found the thermal fuse to be blown. A sticker inside the dryer said "Replace cycling therm. when repla

Dryer has been working fine since. I cleaned lots of built up lint, which it seems may have been the culprit.

For model number DG412 and Serial: 738345NG
Hi Edward,
Thank you for your question. This appliance was made in the year 1984. Unfortunately the diagrams underneath your model do not help very much but usually this fuse is located on the blower housing. I would suggest checking there first. Good luck with your repair.

I have a Maytag heavy duty electric dryer. Model number: Lde312 series 07 serial number 308129. The machine is tumbling when switched on but dial / timer does not turn off and there is no heat. Which part do you recommend for this machine. Thanks for any help or advice you can give.
