Question:

A pool of water was showing up inside the top shelf of my fridge and appeared to be dripping from the freezer. There was an ice buildup inside the freezer, which the greatest amount near the ice maker. I scraped out the ice but the problem returned. Now when there is too much ice buildup, the inside of the fridge section is too warm. Is this a problem with the evaporator fan motor or the ice maker, or maybe both?

Darren for model number WRT771REYM00
Answer:

Hello Darren, thank you for contacting us. If the fridge is warm that would generally be an issue with the evaporator fan motor preventing cool air to flow into the fridge. For the water leak, it could be from the ice maker over filling with water and dripping into the freezer. The water flow is controlled by the inlet valve at the back of the fridge, the ice make will call for water and tell it to stop filling, if its faulty it could keep filling. Hope this helps!

My freezer is a frost free freezer but there is snow and ice or within the interior of the freezer and on the food products. what is causing this?

Hello Teresa, Thank you for your great question. Generally, frost build up occurs when warm moist air is let into the freezer compartment. If you are leaving the door open for long periods this can occur. It may also because by a door gasket that is not sealing correctly. The freezer door gasket for your model is part number PS326946. I hope you find this helpful!

Evaporator fan failure

The reason I repaired it myself was because the repairman that diagnosed the problem.didn't come back in two weeks. The evaporator fan sits behind a vented wall in the freezer and directs cold air into freezer and refrigerator.I removed the ice make assembly first and then the freezer wall held in place by two sheet metal nuts. Then removed wires from fan motor. Removed the fan blade from fan motor, which was press fitted on,then removed fan motor from bracket assembly(make sure and retain the two vibration rubber washers on back and front of motor. Reinstall new motor with vibration washers and press fan blade on new motor. Install in bracket assemble and reassemnble.

Our refrigerator fan motor stopped working.

Most important, remove bracket attached to freezer rear wall and put entire fan motor assembly together, including attaching power supply, ground wire, front bracket and fan blade (be sure rubber vibration dampeners are in place on both brackets) THEN attach the whole assembly to the rear freezer wall! Doing it this way is so much easier, and you won't run the risk of losing a screw behind the condenser, as I did!

Freezer working, not cold enough in fridge area.

Top freezer, remove fan cover on back panel in side top freezer, remove back panel inside top freezer, remove fan and fan motor, unplug electric from fan (PS unplug fridge first). Install new motor, replace ever thing in reverse. works great.
