If your freestanding ice maker is not producing ice properly, the ice cutter grid assembly may need replacing. The cutter grid is located within the main unit of the ice maker and contains thin, heated wires that slice the ice into cubes that are then deposited in the ice bin. If the cutter grid is broken, ice can back up within the ice maker. This part is sold as a complete assembly and is used with freestanding ice makers. Be sure to wear work gloves to protect your hands when completing this repair. This is an OEM part that sources directly from the manufacturer.

Replace the ice cutter grid.
The real difficulty is removing the screws. Even with a nut driver the space available makes them difficult to remove. I went to the hardware store and replaced the screws with screwdriver slots for re-installation.
Replaced the assy. But, I would have been happier if you sold just the wires. I could have replaced the wires at a much lower cost and may have taken less than an hour to replace the wires.Still happy - the ice maker works.

Grid Assembly had a broken wire and would not separate the ice sheets into cubes
I removed the 2 screws on each side of the grid and disconnected the electrical plugs attached to the grid. I slid the broken unit out. I then carefully slid the new unit in making sure not to pinch any of the electrical wires. I replaced the mounting screws, plugged the 3 connectors back into place and turned the ice maker back on. What voltage should be delivered to cutting wires? Also, what should the resistance be on this part?
For model number Kuic15ntrs1
Hello Stephen, Thank you for the question. The voltage to the grid should be 9.4Vac. The grid cutter should read closed for continuity. Very sorry but we do not list the resistance for this grid. For more specialized assistance or to speak with someone about this, I would suggest calling the manufacturer of the appliance directly. Hope this helps!

My ice maker is making ice slowly (a separate problem), but when the slab move onto the grid, it is taking a long time for grid to cut the cubes. In some cases, the next sheet will move onto the grid before the previous is finished. So, it seems to be cutting the cube, but slower than normal. Any thoughts on how to diagnose/repair?
Thanks,
Max

Hello Massimiliano, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Evaporator Thermistor. At room temperature the resistance should be 10,200 to 12,600 ohms resistance. To get a more accurate reading you will need to place the thermistor in ice water for approximately 5 minutes. At 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the reading should be 30,200 to 37,000 ohms resistance and at 0 degrees Fahrenheit the reading should be 81,000 to 99,000 ohms resistance. Hope this helps!
Ice maker hardly making ice despite 2 cleaning cycles and lots of troubleshooting. It seems that the ice slab doesn't slide fully on to cutter grid and then the water runs over the slab and into the ice tank. Do i need a new cutter grid assembly, or what do you suggest?
For model number KUIA15NRHS8
Hi Sam, thank you for your question. You may need a new assembly. You may also want to double check that your water inlet valve is running correctly as well. If those parts are fine then it might actually be your control that is the issue. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

I noticed a piece of the wire cutter is broke in a spot. The ice maker has basically quit making ice. I’m guessing the brake in the wire cutter is the cause? Do I need an entirely new grid cutter assembly or just a new wire cutter? Thanks!
For model number KUIS18NNTS1
Hello Bobby, Thank you for the question. The individual Ice Cutting Grid Wire can be replaced. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
