Dryer timer knob spins it’s not mgrabbing the gear and when i pull it doesn’t start i have to turn and pull multiple ties until i reach a good spot that it grabs and starts
    For model number MDE6400AYW
Hi Maureen, Thank you for your question. The timer knob is likely stripped and it may need to be replaced. You will need to remove the knob and inspect it. Also check the shaft it goes on to see if there are any issues with that as well. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

When i tried to start the dryer i rotate the knob it's seem rotating fine bit all settings does not work, only air fluff what can be the issue here ?
    For model number MDE7400AZW
Hi Zaineb, thank you for your question. Looking at your model information there are a few parts that you should take out and test to see which one is giving you the issue. The first parts to check in this case would be all of your thermostats and thermal fuses. You can test those parts with a multi meter and they should be reading 0 ohms to be working correctly. If those parts are fine, you should then go on to testing your heating element as well. You can also test that with a multi meter and it should be reading between 0 - 50 ohms. Something else you should also check would be your filter and ducts. Make sure there is absolutely no blockage that would restrict air flow in your appliance. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Broken Plastic twirl knob shaft on timer assembly and chrome timer cap
        0. Disconnected the dryer power supply
        1. Removed the control panel (3 screws, star bit)
        2. Detached the electric power supply cords from the timer assembly (took a bit of easing back and forth - do not pull by the electric cords, pull the socket itself)
        3. Timer assembly eased off subsequently (held in place by three unscrewed receptacles)
        4. Installed the new timer assembly, plugged back the supply cords, and installed the new timer knob, skirt and chrome cap.

They don't build Maytag equipment as they used to. We bought a fridge, washer and dryer 6 years ago - all three of them have had component, part stress and/or electronic sensor failures :-(

        Knob broke off dryer timer
The two parts purchased were the corrects parts needed to do the job. (There's always a first time for everything!) When the plastic timer knob broke away from the timer stem, it left the silver timer cap's locking pin embedded in the timer stem. I could not remove the broken remains of the knob while the broken off pin was still in place. And it was impossible to grip the pin with pliers or tweezers without damaging the timer stem. As a solution I grabbed my whole-house vacuum cleaner hose and sucked the broken pin out of the timer stem. Total time of repair was about 20 minutes not including the two-hour brainstorming time-out that led me to the vacuum cleaner solution.

Timer Knob was broken so the knob would not stay on
I removed the silver cap and then removed the knob itself. I replaced the knob with the new part and also the silver cap with the part. The job was complete.
