Tub gasket leaking because of age.
Top came off quickly with socket wrench. Removed gasket in about a minute. Spent 45 minutes getting grime ( soap and lime) off of top. Took five minutes to replace gasket.
Haven't been able to get front back on. Clips go on side rather than top. Found missing clip for which new one was purchased in transmission. Still haven't gotten front to stay on. Clips keep springing out.

How do you change this part?
For model number LSG7806AAE
Hi Larry, Thank you for the question. The gasket is inserted into a channel on the Tub Cover. You just need to pull the old one off and insert the new one in its place. Hope this helps!

Will this part cause a water leak when in spin mode?
For model number LSG7806AAE
Hi Larry, Thank you for the question. If the leak is coming from the top of the tub, Yes this can cause a leak if it is wore out or damaged. If the leak is under the tub I suggest replacing the Mounting Stem/Tub Seal Kit, PartSelect Number PS2351899. Hope this helps!

Leaking at top of drum during spin cycle
For model number LAT9206AAM
Hello Chris, thank you for your question. We would recommend inspecting the tub gasket for any tears, or wear. If that is starting to wear we would recommend replacing the tub gasket. Also inspect the tub ring that the gasket sits in to be sure it doesn't have any breaks or cracks in it. I hope this helps!
