water dripping from water dispenser in door
The water was just a drip for a few days, put a cup under it and woke up to a flooded kitchen on day 3. I found your site ,ordered the part around 2pm it was on my doorstep the next morning. I watched the repair on Youtube it was very helpful, I really wanted to throw away the cardboard backing so it was good the man said not to, so I let it dry flat and put it back on. The replacement part was a little different looking than the original but fit right in,screws lined up perfectly. Also it was helpful to know the 2 plugs are different sizes and could only go in thier own spot even though the colors where different from the original I had no problem with them. The fridge is 14 years old and I contemplated putting $ into it but I am so glad I did. I am a 50 year old female and did not find this a huge challenge. The Youtube site was a huge help. I'm telling everyone what a good company you are to do business with. Thank you and I hope I don't need you again to soon.

Water valve for icemaker would not shut off.
We were lucky we were home, 1/2 hour later we would have been gone and damage would have been extensive. None of stores in town had the part so checked the internet found this one in just a few minutes saved about $15.00. Valve arrived 3 days later pulled the refrigerator away from the wall, gathered the tools, layed down on the floor, installed the valve, turned on the water and everything is fine. I did have the wires and water lines marked so new how to hook them up correctly. All is well that ends well.

Ice maker was over filling
The ice maker was over filling, then freezing and the ice maker couldn't eject the ice because the entire mechanism was frozen. The only way I could get the ice to eject is to hit the ice maker with a hair drier to loosen things up.I wasn't sure where the problem was, so I purchased a new ice maker and a new valve. I watched the 60 second video provided by this site an the work to replace both parts took 20 minutes. Great instructions. Ice is no longer overfilling and is ejecting smoothly. I have a small drip coming from the water disenser on the door, but that may be due to air in the line. As long as I had it pulled out, I also replaced the water filter.

Ice Maker Not Working/Making Ice
My ice maker stopped making ice. The water dispinser was working though- which threw a curve in diagnosing the problem. First, I ordered a new ice maker and installed it per instructions. That did not work. I called the help line at Parts Select requesting a replacement since it appeard to be defective. The rep on the phone was helpful, and suggested that i review the Parts Select website section on repair diagnostics. I did that, and learned from review of the possible suggestions for repair that the dual water valve may be the problem. So, I ordered the valve and replaced the old one. It was a perfect replacement, and did the job! I had ice being made within two hours after the valve was replaced. In this experience I learned that one of the dual valves stopped working, but the other one continued working. It did not regester with me that the the old valve may have been partially bad ( half working and half not working). I hope this post is helpful to others who read this. Thank you Parts Select. I highly recomend you to others.

water dripping in ice bin causing ice cubes to freeze together
unplug the refrigerator, turn the water off to the water filter, remove cardboard cover at the bottom with 1/4'' nut driver. icemaker water dispenser dual inlet valve is located at the bottom right (on my refrigerator). Place a rag under the valve -loosen tubing nut-pull tubing out of valve-gently move tubing out of the way (mine is copper)-remove the mounting screw with 1/4" nut driver-pull the valve out and uplug the two connectors. On the inlet valve I received one was purple one green. the old valve was green on the left red on the right opposite of the original just check the terminal ends. One valve has a wide blade connector. Install in reverse order. i cut the copper tubing back about 1/2" and installed a new compression fitting. Turn the water on and check for any leaks, plug in refrigerator and bleed the water dispenser of any air.

water dispenser stopped working; ice maker still worked
Shut off water supply to refrigerator at wall. Disconnected water supply line to fridge. Removed three self tapping screws holding cardboard cover to dual inlet valve. Folded cardboard out of way, but did not damage it. Removed two screws holding inlet valve in place. Pulled inlet valve out from refrigerator. Lots of dust. Vacuumed out some of it. Removed both electrical connectors (one for water to dispenser, the other for water to ice maker). It is impossible to mix these up since the connectors are sized differently (thank God). Unscrewed both water lines from the defective inlet valve (easily done since they were hand tight) and screwed them on the new valve (finger tight only). Reconnected both electrical lines. Bolted new inlet valve in place with two screws. Attached water line from wall to valve and turned on water supply. Checked for leaks. Operated now working water dispenser and flushed gallons of water to clear the lines and tank behind crisper. Checked again for leaks at inlet valve. Found none. Replace cardboard cover and screwed back in place with three screws.

I have a 2188542 double solenoid valve. Where can i find the water- line threaded coupling nuts that accept the push-in plastic water lines? The threaded nuts are different sizes, one smaller than the other
PartSelect logo
Hi Larry, Thank you for your question. Actually, if your original water lines have those nuts on the end, you will have to cut them off as straight as you can. Then push the tubes into the push on ports on your valve. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

My icemaker does not get a signal to the solenoid so it does not get water to it. I replaced the solenoid and it still doesn't work. The module just keeps rotating but does not signal the solenoid to fill. Do you have any solutions?
For model number ED25TQXGW00

Hello Stacey, Thanks for your question. It may be a good idea to add water to the icemaker to see if it is able to make ice to begin with. If it is able to, it may be worth replacing the icemaker assembly itself, part number PS358591, to ensure that the correct signals go to the water valve from its power board. I hope this helps.

I changed ice maker, inlet valve, and solenoid and i still have to chip out frozen block of ice from ice tray. I don't know what to do next since all of the ice maker components have been changed and i still have same problem
For model number ED27PQXEW01
PartSelect logo
Hi Don, Thank you for your question. If there is frozen ice in the tray, check to see if the chute is sealing correctly after use. If it is not sealing correctly, then warm air can get into the area where the ice is and cause condensation to form and the ice to melt. When cold air circulates in the container again, the ice cubes will freeze, forming blocks of ice in the container. If the chute is not sealing correctly, you may need to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
