My refrigerator stopped dispensing both water and ice is this the right part

Ken for model number 10657765790
Answer:

Hi Ken, Thank you for the question. You first need to check to see if the water valve at the back of the appliance is releasing water. If the ice maker is making ice but not dispensing you need to replace the Dispenser Switch, Part number PS11739028. If the ice maker is not filling with water to make ice, you would need to look at the Water Valve, PartSelect Number: PS11731255. Hope this helps!

Not dispensing water

First and foremost, unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet. Apply masking tape to a #2 flat-tip screwdriver. Then, insert the screwdriver tip into the slot located at the bottom-left of the dispensing bezel. Next, while pushing the bezel slightly upward, pry loose the left- side of the bezel ... you should hear a popping sound. Do the same to the bottom-right side. Once loose, disconnect the electrical connector to the bezel and set aside. Then, disconnect all the other electrical connectors from the Control Bracket. Remove the Control Bracket by removing the two (2) screws on either side of the bracket. Once removed, take out the light and insert it into the new bracket. Next, attach the bracket to the door using the 2 screws. Reconnect all connectors and reattached the electrical connector to the bezel. Reset the bezel by seating the bezel beginning at the top and, then, popping the bottom into place. Reconnect refrigerator and test the water dispenser; it should dispense water. At this point, you are done!

The ice dispenser would not work

I pulled the cover off the icemaker and water dispenser in the front door. Unplugged the wires, pulled out the old control bracket, put the new one in, reconnected the wires, put the cover back on. Everything works fine now. All it was was a broken piece of plastic that would not trigger the switch to run the ice dispenser.

Water dispenser on door stopped working.

Replaced the entire part which dispenses water and ice. Good as new. Cost to repair it ourselves less than $20 for postage and part. Sure beats the $85 service charge with an additional charge for the part needed, the repairman wanted to come out and fix it.

Ice & water dispenser stopped working

The control bracket that holds the switches to dispense the water and ice broke. I live in Florida I can't live without the ice dispenser and filtered water. I was informed by Whirlpool that they did not sell the idividual parts and that I would need to buy a new door for $700. Fustrated I searched the internet and PartSelect had exactly what I needed and $22 later I had my water and ice back. Simple to install less than 10 minutes, excelent schematics. The part was delivered within 1 day, I wish I knew about PartSelect earlier I would have never gone thru the aggravation of 5 days without ice and water.
