Question:

My refrigerator stopped dispensing both water and ice is this the right part

Ken for model number 10657765790
Answer:

Hi Ken, Thank you for the question. You first need to check to see if the water valve at the back of the appliance is releasing water. If the ice maker is making ice but not dispensing you need to replace the Dispenser Switch, Part number PS11739028. If the ice maker is not filling with water to make ice, you would need to look at the Water Valve, PartSelect Number: PS11731255. Hope this helps!

Question:

Water is dispensing but not making .I cannot get the filter to lock in place

Steve for model number GD5RHAXNB00
Answer:

Hi Steve, Thank you for your question. It sounds like you should check your water inlet valve to see if it is working correctly. Your water inlet valve has two solenoids, one that sends water to the ice maker and one that sends water to the dispenser. You can test that part with a multi meter. If that part is showing fine, I would then suggest testing your ice maker to see if it if working correctly. Good luck with your repair.

Question:

When I remove the tray in the dispenser there are no screws, how do I get to the part?

Ken for model number 10657765790
Answer:

Hi Ken, Thank you for the question. In order to gain access to the plastic control bracket you will need to pop the front facing off. You can do so my using a small flat head screw driver or a plastic putty knife.Hope this helps!

Ice maker stopped dispensing ice.

I watched the video this site has on their website and I did exactly as the instructor did. I had my ice maker fixed in less than 30 minutes. I had watched the video prior to receiving my parts so I already had the prep work done. I had the parts removed that needed removing and all I did was slide the new ones into place. Use the parts chart on this site to make sure you get the right parts and use the video to uninstall/install your parts. Do exactly like the instructor says and you won't have any problems. It was as my school kids say, "easy peasy". Thanks!!!

Water would not dispense

Thanks to the support on this site, I diagnosed and fixed the problem, saving at least $150 on a service call. The manufacturer's design of this Control Bracket is so cheap. The small plastic "axel" holding the micro switch broke after about 7 years of use. It is made of thin plastic about the size of a toothpick. Gently pry off the front cover by inserting a screw driver in the slots at the bottom. Take your time and apply gentle pressure. The cover will pop out. Next, take off the micro switches and spacers connected to the old Control bracket. You will probably see a broken plastic shaft/axel that was causing the problem. Pay attention to where the parts come from, because the will need to go back in the same place on the new bracket. It would be helpful to have 3 hands for this job, but I got it done by being patient and taking my time. This site is a fantastic resource. Thanks!

Water dispenser in door would no longer function.

This was easy. I have a built in refrigerator/freezer.

1) Remove the door handle using a phillips screwdriver.
2) Bend the plastic cover plate gently and slide it out
3) Remove 2 screws holding on the white plastic control bracket
4) Remove the old wires from their mounting positions in the old control bracket.
5) Put the wires back in the same spot on the new control bracket
6) Mount the new control bracket (2 screws)
7) Gently bend and reinsert the plastic cover
8) Screw the door handle back on.

No water and or ice being dispensed.

This was for the control bracket which is located behind the dispensing panel. First slide out water collection tray then gently unsnap dispensing panel from fridge by using a thin blade screwdriver and pry gently in the bottom left and right corner of panel. Pull panel off. Take picture of layout, wires, and water and ice sensors for proper re-assembly. Disconnect quick disconnect terminal block from panel to control bracket components. Remove ice and water sensors along with white spacers from control bracket; take note of orientation of white spacers for re-installation. Remove control bracket by unsnapping; install new control bracket and re-install water and ice sensors plus spacers onto toothpick like supports; be sure sensors snap into place. Be gentle to avoid breaking clips. Reconnect terminal block and snap dispensing panel and water collection pan back into place.

The control bracket which holds the micro switches broken on the water side.

Removed the front cover, not easy, I was worried it was going to break but it did pop off. Be sure to locate the two notches on the bottom so your pulling in the correct location. Unplugged the wire harness from the front cover and control panel, there is a locking tab on one side that must be released to unplug. Removed two screws that hold the control bracket, slide it out and remove the micro switches and lamp holder. Unplug the wires from the micro switches, it is easier to do when they are not in the control bracket. Attach the wires to the new micro switches, I replaced both since it was apart. Install the spacers for the switches and then slide on each switch. Make sure they are locked into the notch on the two support pins for each switch. Snap in the lamp holder and check the wiring routes so nothing is pinched. Attach the control bracket and plug the front panel into the control bracket plug and then test the water and ice. If they both work you've done a good job. The new control panel has a place to slide the wiring connection in so it stays in place. Do it now and snap the cover back on. I had to hit the bottom corners pretty hard to get it to snap in but once it is in place it is solid. It took about 30 minutes but I had taken this apart before when I discovered the holders for the water micro switch were broken so that made it much easier the second time around. The new bracket and holders seem to be made better. The new drip tray is also much better and fits much better two. Good luck, don't be in a hurry.

A. Fridge water dispenser stopped working b. Burner switch

I have wood panels so I had to bend the plastic faceplate alot to remove. It is more flexible than I thought, and I had no instruction in this regard, and people should know this. As you folks indicated to an 80% degree of certainty it was a broken control bracket, which was easy to replace. I replaced the micro switch, easy, anyway, and kept the old one as a backup for short $ - less than $10. You folks were perfect and exact!!! Burner switch was easy and didn't even need replacement after all; burner was working ok after all. You're great!

Broken bracket would not dispense water

First I removed the face plate from the dispenser, then removed two screws holding the bracket in place. All of the wiring was held in place and I did not have to remove any of the switches from the wires. I then removed the stationary switch from the ice side and removed the entire bracket. I then put the new bracket in place and installed the switches and wiring harness. It took less than 10 minutes to install.

Thru the door water stopped working

I removed the metal strip on the side of the freezer door then slid out the wood panels. removing one Z bar allowed the plastic cover panel to come off without bending the plastic. Then just replace the control bracket by removing two screws and installing the micro switches as before. The small plastic "fingers" break after use and you replace the entire plastic bracket. Very easy ...

I googled the problem and found the issue. I ordered the part needed and watched the video provided with my receipt. It was extremely helpful for a female who likes to fix things on my own when I can. It was very self-rewarding. Thank you

Ice would not dispense.

Took out the drip pan. Just pry it out. On some models there are screws under the drip pan that have to be removed. Not so on my model. Just pry the bottom of the faceplate control panel. Disconnect the power supply clip. Disconnect wires from light. There is a switch for the water dispenser on the right and a switch for the ice dispenser on the the left. This is the one I had the problem with. The clip that the switch clips into was broken. Disconnect the clips and the spacers behind them. Put the spacers in the new plate. put in the switches. Hook up the little light. Plug in the power to the light. Plug together the power to the control panel. Clip it in place. Put the face plate back on put the drip tray back in and your done.

Not getting water from dispenser

IAfter not getting water from dispenser, I took the escutcheon plate off and discovered that several of the plastic pins from the control box were broken off. I put back together to continue using ice dispenser, I ordered part from this site , upon arrival of control box I watched the t video and read everybody's post. Don't worry about all those wires at the top as they are all color coded. Took about 30 min. from start to finish, all is working great. Thanks

Freezer would not dispense ice

The plastics on the control bracket that holds the micro switch broke. To repair you remove the control panel (disconnect wire harness). Take a picture for reference, remove water and ice mirco switches and spacers and then remove old control bracket by releasing two plastic connectors on each side. Install new control bracket, install spacers and micro switches. Reconnect wire harness and snap control panel in place.

The water dispenser would no longer dispense with the water

Pretty much followed the instructions in the video. Under my drip tray were no screws to release the escutcheon from the door so I had to pry mine off. Used plastic trim prying tool for automotive interior trim to pry it away at the bottom. Pry one side first then the other. Apart from that the video was pretty good. I took the opportunity to take out the ice chute and flap from the door and clean that up good while waiting on the parts to arrive. As the symptom checker suggested my control bracket was broken where the water switch attaches to it.
