Replace snubber ring and 6 suspension springs
As a 78 year old senior, I no longer have the upper strength and agility to remove the springs. Had to remove the washer casing (9 screws and 3 bolts), which gave me full access to r disconnect the springs, remove the tub, replace the snubber ring and reinstall the springs. The complete repair took me 6 hours, no assistance and was very thankful for the excellent videos available online.
Parts arrived in 3 days, fantastic delivery service, great prices and fixed my washer for $107.

Our washer was purchased 1/6/2006 and it started banging and walking out of its place when the washer started into the spin cycle. This would occur no matter the size of the load.
We followed the instructions show on the video. However, our model was assembled slightly different. We had to remove the screws from both sides of the side panels so that we could remove the tub from inside of the machine. Also our model only has one belt not two.
Over all it was easy considering my husband and I had never attempted to repair a washer. Once we got it back together it when back to working like it had never been broken!
We would have never been able to repair our washer without the video that your site provided... thanks so much!!??

Sure wish the manufactures would consider making the older models again as lots of us are not happy with the new modules being manufactured presently!

replaced the snubber ring / the belt / springs
As for how I did the repair , I just followed your instruction video . The instruction video provided by Part Select was very very valuable.
The snubber ring was a piece of cake BUT would have been really difficult without the helpful hints in the video like replacing three of the screws in the rings collar with three longer screws so as not to disturb the spring under it.
The suspension springs were a bit more trouble since my washer doesn't have an access panel on the back however THANKS TO YOUR TIP to stretch the spring and put coins between the coils made this much easier . I don't know many guys that are strong enough to lay down and reach through the front and put those springs on the back.
Of coarse the belt was easy.

I also really like you list of probable solutions to the problems with the machine.

My wife is now happy with her washer again therefore I am also happy.

Thanks so much.
I can see me being be a loyal customer for many years to come.

Severe tub wobble on spin cycle
As described in video; however, the video does not match the model I repaired. Most stuff is the same. Hardest thing to do was installing the new springs on the back of the tub (2 of them).

Off balance walking & shaking in spin cycle
Unlike most videos, mine had a solid frame, no access panels. Following, is my disassembly & repair: I disconnected the water supply lines and drain hose. I slid the washer out into the center of the garage & removed the 9 base screws from the base plate. I slid the frame away from the base, leaving the working parts exposed. After pulling the working mechanisms from the outer frame, I turned it (drum, transmission & base) upside down. I used a pair of vise grips, pinched them onto each spring & removed them, using a downward motion it was a lot easier. I placed the base plate aside, removed 3 opposing screws holding the snubber ring & put 3 longer 8-32 screws in to hold the brake assembly. Then I removed the 3 remaining screws, lifted the plate & replaced the ring. Then I reversed the process, replacing the old springs with new ones & finished the job in about 2 hours.

'Machine' wobbled & 'walked away from the wall'. Had to stop it and re-arrange the load, almost everytime!
I pretty much followed the video, and read some of the other comments on how to do it. I only had one problem, the back panel had an opening of about 14"x14" to access the 2 rear balance springs. I finally laid the machine on it's face,so I didn't have to kneel down. The only problem with that,is the tub falls forward, making the springs farther away from the upper hole to attach/stretch, the springs to remove/install. I cured that problem by cutting a wedge out of a piece of 2x4, and stuck it between the top edge of the tub & upper frame. Worked great, held the tub in position, closer to the springs & locating holes. Taking them off is no problem, installing them, was made easier by using the wedge. The parts were a perfect fit, no more 'walking away from the wall' now! Thanks PartSelect

Followed the excellent utube instructions you provide. Piece of cake when I followed the video. The rear springs became much more difficult because my model does not have rear access panel. They were the only stuggle. Thank you for doing the repair videos

Unit quit spinning
Actually I got on YouTube and looked up the problem and watch the short video of it and went from there and it showed me how to take everything apart what the problems were and as I did take it apart and found out it was exactly what they said I simply reversed it just ordered the parts and put them in and took my time to make sure that everything was to specs as I've measured the clearance of the break and said all the hardware back in place it was quite simple yet it was just time consuming took me about two and a half hours but it runs quiet spins great just like a brand new one I couldn't be more pleased with it and I saved quite a bit of money doing it myself

Hi, i replaced the snubber ring and springs on my Admiral washer but now it looks like the brake isn't working. It won't agitate properly and while it will spin, it doesn't stop when the program finishes but continues to turn under it's own momentum for a while (although it is much smoother!). Have you come across this before and, if so, is there anything obvious i should do before taking it apart again and looking at the brake assembly? Thanks in advance, mike
For model number AAV8000AGW
PartSelect logo
Hi Mike, Thank you for your question. If the washer continues to spin after the cycle is over and it will not agitate properly, then the issue is likely with the lid switch. You will need to check the lid switch with a multimeter to check the continuity of the part to verify it is working. If it turns out that the issue is not with the lid switch, you will need to check the lid switch actuator, the agitator auger and post assembly, the transmission pulley and bearing kit, the agitator base, the drain pump, the motor pivot spring and the washer brake rotor. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Washer fills and spins freely but when it advances to wash motor clicks and hums for a second then pauses for a short time then tries to run again, nothing. Will a new snubber ring solve the problem?

Hi my washer in spin cycle spins but does not go into the high speed spin to get all the water out of the clothes. I have replaced the belt and it didn't help. What else can it be?

I'm having trouble figuring out this washer. It agitates, but does not spin. It begins to spin, but doesn't spin more than 3-4 inches or so. I guess that's a turn.I've replaced the thrust bearing (kit). i put pressure on the motor mount, to tighten the belt, but no results from that either. the motor seems to spin well. is it supposed to spin counter clockwise (opposite the agitation) during the spin cycle? i'm at wit's end here.... thanks, bill
