I'd preferred the relay and a capacitor. It seems the parts shipped were correct - but different. Easy to adapt, but only after digging deep into the reviews did I find that others faced this situation. The old relay was literally fried. Ultimately, it turned out the compressor had gone south, hence overtaxing the overload relay. Keeping the parts for the next fridge, though.

No cooling in the freezer or in the refrigerator
Remover rear cover at bottom of refrigerator. The replacement run capacitor was the same as the original one. The replacement Overload Relay Combination was slightly different. It plugged onto the compressor the same, but the connector where the power came in from the wiring harness was different. I had to cut off the original connector
... Read more from the wiring harness, and then splice in new connectors onto those two wires which I could then attach to the replacement Overload Relay Combination. Fortunately the connectors I needed were fairly common and I had those available. After that it worked. My suspicion is that the Run Capacitor was fine, and it was just the Overload Relay Combination that failed. Replacing the capacitor without replacing the Overload Relay Combination did not fix the problem.
Refrigerator and freezer was not cooling. The compressor would not stay running. When the compressor kicked on it would only run for a few seconds and got warm real quickly. I replaced both the overload relay combination and the running capacitor. Don't know what the problem is. I thought for sure t
disconnected wire connections, pulled old overload relay and running capacitor out like a plug and plug in the new one then reconnected the wires.

Refrigerator had been working and still had lights and a running fan, but no cooling, everything had defrosted.
I didn't do it, my husband did. He removed the back panel and used an ohm meter to check the compressor and found that that was working so he decided to replace the overload relay and capacitator. He has an hour lunch and since the parts were in he decided to change it during his lunch hour. The minute he had them replaced....voila!! Cold

loud hum from compressor, cycling overload switch, no cooling.

... Read more to check the capacitor as it was only another $20 or so to replace. Also didn't notice any oily residue that would signify a coolant leak, so assumed the system was still pressurized. New relay switch and capacitor plugged right in, no tools needed. Re-secured the assembly with it's original keeper clip wire and I was done. Plugged it in and made sure it was cooling properly before replacing the various back cover panels. Like a new reefer! Couldn't have been easier. Just be careful with the capacitor when you remove it. It could hold a lethal electric charge.
The refrigerator quit cooling and the compressor would click on and off
I took off the faceplate on the back to access the compressor and took off the overload relay switch from the compressor. The overload fit on the compressor correctly. The top quick connect did not fit on the overload so I had to cut the quick connect off and replace the wires with correct size clamps and replace. It has been working fine

Refrigerator won't get cold. It seems the freezer food is still solid, but we might have caught it in time. Butter is soft, milk is not cold, barely cool

Can the white wire and black wire be switched? I noticed the white wire end is smaller than the black wire.

Hello my name is Ted. I am Electrician I am the building owner. My tenants Amana refrigerator is not cooling at all. The model is a RS24664BS I will be replacing the overload relay I question is should I replace the capacitor at the same time as the compressor seemed to be running, but shut down due to high temperature. Hello Ted, thank you for reaching out. The most common reason a refrigerator stops cooling is dirty condenser coils. Thankfully, to fix this problem all you need to do is give them a good clean. If the issue persists, you may need to replace the start relay, part number PS8746522. We hope this helps!

Hello,
my refrigerator works well for 2 to 3 months and for some unknown reason the compressor does not start anymore. I unplug it and plug it back in and after a few minutes it restarts. which part do you think is defective.
